Company Overview:
We are a leading building material wholesale distributor, 100% Employee Owned (ESOP), with eleven locations across the Southern US. Our headquarters is in Savannah, Georgia. We are seeking a dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead our HR department and drive our people strategies.
Role Overview:
As the Director of Human Resources, you will oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, safety, training, and compliance. You will play a crucial role in shaping the HR strategy and ensuring it aligns with the company's goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's objectives.
Oversee recruitment and selection processes to ensure the timely hiring of qualified candidates.
Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
Administer employee safety and benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
Create and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and stay updated on changes.
Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in HR management, business administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of ten years of progressive HR experience, including at least three years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations (DOT, OSHA).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across the organization.
Proven experience in recruitment and selection, including interviewing and talent assessment.
Professional HR certification is highly desirable.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Occasional travel to various company locations required.
