In a rare opportunity with Tutor Perini Building Corp., we are seeking a strong leader for the

Chief Estimator

position that will report to the

VP of Preconstruction Services.

Responsibilities:

Be strategic when developing the pursuit plan aligning team members with the strategy while executing the plan.

Close collaboration with department heads.

Oversee the estimating and preconstruction team in the pursuit and winning of new work with client satisfaction.

Bring solutions to pursuit challenges.

Provide advice, guidance, direction, training, and motivation to the team for their professional growth.

Direct responsibility for developing and maintaining the budget for the department’s overhead costs.

Lead the estimating process by overseeing the estimating team’s chronological assigned tasks.

Conduct a comprehensive review of all aspects of a bid or presentation in preparation for the corporate final review.

Establish, maintain, and grow professional relationships using open communication with clients, owners, and subcontractors.

Lead the implementation, evaluation, and updating of preconstruction/estimating department standards and procedures.

Oversee Estimators to ensure all facets of assigned estimates and proposals are on track, completed in a timely manner, and accurate such that all departmental resources are used efficiently.

Review, approve, and participate in client presentation proposals.

Demonstrate knowledge of commercial construction projects including, but not limited to: high-rise, healthcare, hospitality and/or hotel construction, federal and public projects, parking garages, higher education, aviation, and gaming projects.

Be visionary and spot trends in advance of the competition to further the company’s win percentages.

Instill trust and confidence with owners, design teams, and subcontractors.

Assist in establishing the Business Unit’s performance goals and business plan.

Strive to be the “go to” phone call with clients.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or similar from an ABET accredited institution and 15 or more years of relevant estimating, project management, and/or construction experience.

Possess thorough understanding of principles of critical path scheduling.

Utilizes excellent written and oral communications and team skills in a multi-tasking/deadline driven environment.

Experience in effectively negotiating and writing contract terms with owners and clients in close collaboration with the VP of Preconstruction Services.

Experience in projects exceeding $200M in value is a plus.

Experience in estimating software tools On-Center, Insite, and Timberline or similar tools.

Advanced knowledge of Windows Office Systems Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Procore.
