This is a fully remote position and can be based anywhere within the U.S.

The Director, Enterprise Distinguished Events, will develop and drive, in conjunction with the DE team, the core strategies within distinguished event competencies and resources to grow distinguished events nationwide. This position will have a specific revenue focus to support the national framework and development of golf programs nationwide. The Director will be part of a team that creates and monitors strategies and business processes to drive revenue and profit, decrease expense ratios, and track and monitor event trends and opportunities.

In partnership with the Sr Director, DE and core development product leads, the position will provide subject matter oversight and expertise in collaborating with Corporate Relationships and Alliances, Development, Marketing, Marketplace Insight and Experiences, Communications, Finance and other departments, and drive integration and alliances with the field utilizing the ACS account management system to better capitalize on opportunities for sponsorship, donor cultivation and revenue growth.

The Director will serve as a link to the field in researching and managing the product impact of standardization and centralization; nationwide sponsorships, marketing, and communications; innovation and technology strategies; volunteer and staff training and coaching; and developing and resourcing to key segment markets. The position will design event management tools with and for the field, and actively support new growth or event retooling as determined by the respective markets and opportunities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Contributor to the Distinguished Events Team which has broad authority to directly oversee the development of product resources and strategy that will support the base Distinguished Events strategies to ensure growth to $110M nationwide by 2027.

Develops and communicates internal and external business processes to support core DE, primarily focused on golf products through internal collaboration with key departments and in accordance with current practices employed by Regions.

Partners with internal department heads to direct support strategies based on needs of the Regions and related outcomes; establishes clear connectivity and access between Regions and strategy resources.

In collaboration with Communications and Marketing, develop core product positioning and messaging strategy.

In conjunction with Regional VP’s and Area Leads, build out training solutions for staff and volunteers.

Partner with internal and external stakeholders to direct and develop decision making for technology interfacing with e-revenue, webpage, mobile applications, mobile bidding and other technology solutions.

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 10+ years relevant experience and 8+ years team leadership preferred.

Minimum 3+ years of progressive Gala/Golf fundraising experience.

Working knowledge of Power BI, GiveSmart, Salesforce is required.

OTHER SKILLS

Excellent understanding of Distinguished Event (golf and gala) products and internal and external strategies for growth in both current and future state; strategic planning experience and visionary thinking a must.

Deep knowledge of market segments and corresponding market factors in which distinguished events will thrive and have opportunity for growth.

Broad knowledge of the overall structure, program, and services of the American Cancer Society including policies and procedures.

Extensive experience in collaborating across departments and seeking integration to create “win/win” solutions for continued growth of events.

Seasoned experience in volunteer management and cultivation and strong understanding of market, community, and constituent experiences.

Outcome driven, strong project management ability.

Collaborative leadership, management, coaching and development of diverse staff.

Strong understanding of Region operations and structure and ability to communicate with all levels of staff to provide strategic guidance in a collaborative, consultative and positive manner.

Excellent oral, written communications and presentation skills required.

Strong experience with community-based event planning and implementation.

Highly proficient in computer-based information systems.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Highly self-motivated, organized and the ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to build consensus and to work through others in achieving desired results and objectives.

Excellent verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills, creative problem solving.

SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDSSome travel required.

The starting rate is $90,000 to $100,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
