Primary Purpose of PositionThe primary purpose of this position is to maintain and process the Health Insurance Program for the Student Health. The position is works closely with the business operations staff at student health as they primary function is to facilitate insurance claims processing for services obtained at the Student Health. This position will assist with the oversight of the student sponsored health plan to include enrollment/waiver process and uploads from student health administration to student accounts. This position converses primarily with students regarding health insurance, insurance companies, Student Health staff, Students Account Office, the Office of International programs, and other departments on campus.

Minimum Education/Experience

Required Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from high school and one year of related office experience; or an equivalent combination of educationand experience.

University Preferred Qualifications:Graduation from high school and demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through four years of specialized office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Job DutiesThe essential job duties of the insurance associate are to manage and process claims for billing according to governmental regulations, review unpaid/denied claims to determine trends and address root cause, and process payments and electronic remittances. This position will provide insurance education, training, and customer service to inquiries regarding insurance by phone, email and other written correspondence and in person.

Other Work ResponsibilitiesThe position may also assist with the Student Health Insurance plan enrollment and waiver process.Provides data for analysis as needed by supervision.Serves on student health committees and work groups as needs arise.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Training as a medical coder and familiar with CPT Codes and ICD10 codes.Experience working in a healthcare facility processing insurance claims for medical services.Proficient in the use of Microsoft office including Excel.Experience in healthcare setting.Strong customer service skills.
