JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced financial professional to join the CTBUH Finance and Administration team. The successful candidate will manage and oversee a variety of internal accounting functions. Management responsibilities will include accounts payable, departmental budgets and financial reports, event reports and audits, payroll processes, internal control systems, and assist with annual budget ($6.5M), as well as the annual independent financial audit. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for ensuring accuracy and maintaining the general ledger accounting system, historical and confidential financial records and reports. Working in conjunction with the staff accountant, this position reports to the Vice President of Finance and Administration.

POSITION LOCATIONCTBUH is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with offices in Italy and China. This position will be part of the team in Chicago, with the opportunity to work remotely two days per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage accounts payable processes, oversee budgetary authorizations, and maintain the complete and accurate record of all payable receipts

Prepare and enter payable transactions and journal entries to accounting software

Manage semi-monthly payroll process and confidential reports, including staff time reporting submissions and time/cost collation, as needed

Assist with bank accounts management and monthly financial close

Generate timely departmental monthly reports, including reports for international meetings, conferences, funded research contracts, and other events/initiatives

Assist with annual budget and forecasting, identifying variances with notes

Assist with independent financial audit and federal reporting preparation

Assist with annual financial and membership report, internal control compliance, and annual accounting manual updates

Prepare routine and ad hoc reports and manage other accounting functions as needed

Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to improve overall financial operations

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field

CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus

Minimum 7 years accounting experience, with focus on non-profit accounting a plus

Strong knowledge of non-profit finance and GAAP accounting principles

Proficient in the use of MS Office 365 and financial management software (QuickBooks Online) required

High degree of data accuracy, highly detailed, and well-organized

Excellent analytical and communication skills, works well in fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, but also enjoy working collaboratively with a team

An interest in tall buildings, architecture and urban issues is a plus
