The Procurement Engineer is responsible for all sourcing strategies and supply base performance for the New Product Development team. They will participate in multiple product launches at various phase gates and develop transition plans for the Supply Chain team. The Procurement Engineer will also be responsible for implementing Engineering Change Orders and ensuring the Supply base is production ready by submitting RFQs, setting up new parts, and selecting the best overall source for the project(s).This position will directly report to the Division Sourcing & Procurement Manager.Responsibilities

Ownership of all activities related to New Product Development, including Supplier onboarding, issuing and managing PPAP purchase orders, and supporting accelerated new product schedule deadlines.Overall accountability for strategic sourcing and management of electronics and software commodities to support the business partner goals and objectives.Collaborates with Commodity Managers to ensure alignment and execution of all commodity strategies.Analyzes technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, Supplier facilities, and part/equipment availability.Coordinates with multiple functions on the design, production, test, and qualification of all new products.Implements Engineering Change Orders and Temporary Deviations relating to the Procurement department.Manages critical Supplier agreements including new sources within given commodities, contract renewals, negotiation of terms, issue identification, tracking and resolution.Conducts research to understand supply market and commodity trends.Works with Suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, service as well as price.Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of time.Education

Bachelor’s Degree (4 Year) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Sciences or Other.Advanced degree such as MBA preferred.Qualifications

5 or more years of increasing leadership responsibility within Engineering, Manufacturing or Operations requiring advanced project planning and team organizational skills.Knowledge of quality control processes and methodologies (i.e. various levels of PPAP).Skills in analyzing total cost of ownership (TCO) and life cycle costs.Solid understanding of Casting, Molding, Stamping, Machining, and other manufacturing processes.Solid understanding of material finishing and corrosion protection processes like coating, plating, anodizing etc.Familiarity with product specifications, standards, and compliance requirements.Familiarity with cyber security, functional safety, and communication protocols.Basic understanding of materials such as metals, plastics, and elastomers (processing and properties).Basic understanding of software, firmware, PCBA’s, wire harnesses, connectors and other electronic components.
