Estimated Hiring Range $86,000-$115,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Organization Information:

The Community Kitchen is a 501(c)3 organization in Loveland, Colorado that provides prepared meals 7 days per week to those in need of a nutritious meal. There are no qualifications for our services.

The Community Kitchen has provided meals to anyone in need since 1996. However, the Community Kitchen provides more than a meal. Our purpose is to provide food for those who are hungry, conversation for those who are lonely, rest for those who are weary and a voice for those in need.

Our program is run almost entirely by volunteers, we rely on over 600 generous volunteers to fulfill our mission. Through our collaboration with Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud, we are able to further maximize donations. This collaboration allows us to keep overhead costs low and provide meals that are prepared by an experienced culinary staff and overseen by a registered dietitian.

Position Summary:The Executive Director will be responsible for providing overall leadership, direction, strategy, and vision to ensure Loveland’s Community Kitchen has the resources needed to thrive. The Executive Director will lead and work collaboratively to support the Board of Directors in fulfilling the agency’s mission. The Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for volunteers, programs, community engagement, and execution of its mission.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for the successful leadership and management of the Community Kitchen, programs and strategic plan.

Align agency personnel and functions to implement Strategic Plan.

Communicate vision and goals throughout the agency and community.

Lead, positively motivate, and support volunteers, ensuring a team-oriented working environment.

Demonstrate commitment to the mission through compassionate service to our clients and community.

Ensure that day-to-day operations and programs are efficient and effectively administered.

Maintain a consistent presence with the volunteers and guests of the Community Kitchen.

Responsible for oversight of operations of the Community Kitchen to ensure continuity of operations, including conflict resolution and incident/emergency management.

Work closely with the Board to maintain the organization's fiscal well-being.

Ensure that budgets are balanced and there is a direct relationship between programmatic objectives and available resources, including day-to-day accounting and payroll responsibilities.

Development, planning and operation of annual budget – including grant writing, fundraising and public engagements.

Recommend, develop timelines and resources to implement and achieve strategic goals.

Engage and timely respond to donors, focusing on retention and long-term relationships to support the clients and continuity of services.

Oversee the implementation of the organization’s internal, external and operational policies, procedures and practices including the development of job descriptions for all staff and compliance requirements of health department, local, State and Federal regulations.

Hire staff that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization's mission and ensure that staff receives an orientation to the organization and appropriate training is provided.

Ensure ongoing local excellence and demonstrate effective advocacy role.

Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing operations.

Expand current fundraising program to meet goals articulated in the Strategic Plan.

Implement processes and procedures for ensuring the effectiveness of agency services.

Serve as ex-officio of Board sub-committees, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction.

Actively engage and energize Kitchen volunteers, staff, board members, committees, partnering organizations, and donors.

Deepen and refine all aspects of communications and community engagement – including website and social media to external public relations with the goal of strengthening brand and presence in the community, including timely communication on program results.

Actively engage as a local partner and advocate leveraging external presence and relationships to heighten new opportunities, including donors and community leaders.

Ensure that agency meets requirements for necessary licensing and certification.

Ensure compliance with internal organization policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal licensing, certification and other regulatory legal requirements, including grant funding requirements and American Disabilities Act Title II compliance.

Other duties and tasks as the Board of Directors may assign, including special projects and implementation of new programs, events, and partnerships.

Qualifications:

Passion to serve community and unwavering commitment to quality programs required.

4 years experience managing operations and customer experience in non-profit and/or related business or human services industry required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2 years supervisory experience required.

Ability to obtain food protection safety certification within 3 months of hire.

All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.

Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including computer and social media.

Action-oriented and adaptable.

Hands-on budget management skills.

Problem-solving and strategic planning experience with commensurate fiscal responsibility preferred.

Organizational management experience and previous success working with a Board of Directors preferred.

Driver’s License Required.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and database skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This position works primarily on a computer in a shared workspace, as well as in a kitchen. May require stooping, crouching, reaching, lifting up to 25 pounds.
