The Dean of the School of Education has executive oversight of a rich program mix. Undergraduate and graduate programs in education at NDMU include the PhD as well as an accelerated MAT option. Most programs are offered online as well as face to face. The School benefits from strong, ongoing partnerships with area school systems and more recently from international connections. NDMU is proud to prepare more certified teachers than any other independent institution of higher education in Maryland and to be the top certifier of STEM teachers in the state.

Reporting to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of the School of Education serves in a 12-month position with responsibility for faculty, staff, student matters, budgets, curricula, and programmatic as well as strategic planning.

The ideal candidate will:

take a collaborative approach to leadership in higher education

possess a nuanced understanding of P-12 education

further a vision and mission for the School that aligns with the University’s

advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of the work

work proactively to foster student enrollment and retention

think creatively and critically to solve problems and lead innovation

build partnerships through effective communication and action

inform decision making through thoughtful data analysis

evidence a successful record of programmatic assessment and accreditation

prioritize projects to meet goals and timelines appropriately

demonstrate scholarship in the field

bring previous experience in these areas to the position

All candidates should possess the following qualifications:

An earned doctorate in education or a related field.

3-5 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in education.

Experience with specialized accreditation and facilitation of program assessment.

Experience with online learning programs.

Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to foster strategic partnerships with regional stakeholders.
