Position SummaryReporting to the Director of Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP), Outreach, and Success, the Outreach/Student Success Coordinator will coordinate a variety of student services, outreach, retention, and other assigned programs. The primary responsibility will be overseeing the Price Community Scholars program, which includes providing leadership, mentoring, and guidance to 30 SDSU Price Mentors and 90 Price Mentees attending Clark or Wilson Middle School and Hoover High School.Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Mentoring:

Provide leadership and mentorship to Price Mentors and Mentees, fostering a supportive and enriching environment.Community Engagement:

Collaborate with the City Heights community to recruit participants, conduct community services, and disseminate information about postsecondary educational opportunities and community resources.Program Facilitation:

Facilitate general seminar courses for mentor cohorts and oversee all mentoring aspects of the Price Community Scholars Program.Support Services:

Offer support and assistance to student program participants, including those in Compact for Success, Compact Scholars, Transfer student support programs, and partnerships with community organizations.Education and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.Key QualificationsKnowledge and ability to work with multicultural students and organizations.Bilingual in Spanish and English. Ability to present in English or Spanish.Experience working with historically low-income and educationally disadvantaged students.Experience presenting to audiences on topics related to college knowledge and college access.Experience with outreach presentations to parents, students, and/or community groups.Ability to function effectively as part of a team.Experience with creating curriculum and securing speakers.Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,841 per month.Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position.San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation.Supplemental InformationInitial review of the required application materials will begin on September 23, 2024.
