CCD values the ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, instructors, and staff of diverse backgrounds.GENERAL SUMMARYThe Community College of Denver (CCD) invites applications for a full-time position of Director of Education. This is a twelve-month appointment beginning August 2024. The Director can build Education degrees and teach courses as needed. The Education program provides workforce education and training to students, leading to certificates and degrees in education. In collaboration with Colorado 4-year schools, Colorado has developed a statewide guaranteed transfer program called "Pathways" to create seamless transfer. The Education pathway at CCD is committed to educating its racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse student population. We are an open access college that currently enrolls over 11,000 students, the majority of whom are first-generation and from racially minoritized populations. CCD is designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, reflecting the great responsibility that the College has to the educational attainment and economic well-being of the surrounding community.The Education Pathway seeks to recruit a director who has a working knowledge of building degrees and aligning Teacher Recruitment Education & Preparation (TREP) curriculum with four-year institutions, while working with Denver Public Schools (DPS) to integrate TREP degrees into concurrent enrollment programs. The ideal candidate will work to eliminate our equity gap and increase the recruitment of historically underserved and underrepresented populations. A director will primarily engage in administrative responsibilities focused on building and maintaining our TREP education. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic success and professional development of our students while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The director will lead and collaborate on projects and service to the pathway and college, while collaborating with other disciplines. This position reports directly to the Dean of the Education Pathway.EXAMPLE OF DUTIESPrimary administrative duties:Champion and lead the development of seamless transfer pathways with four-year institutions.Identify high-demand bachelor's programs at partner institutions and align community college curriculum accordingly.Foster strong relationships with articulation officers and faculty at four-year institutions to ensure transferability of credits.Collaborate with academic departments to create clear and transparent transfer guides for students.Implement initiatives to increase student awareness and utilization of transfer pathways.Analyze transfer data and outcomes to continuously improve transfer success rates.Advocate for policies and partnerships that promote smooth and accessible transfer experiences for students.Provide strategic leadership and direction for the academic division, aligning curriculum with institutional goals and community needs.Supervise relevant faculty and staff, creating a collaborative and supportive work environment that fosters professional development.Develop and manage the academic budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation for programs and initiatives.Oversee curriculum review and assessment processes, implementing data-driven decision-making to improve student learning outcomes.Collaborate with other departments, including student services and workforce development, to create opportunities for student success.Represent the academic division at college-wide meetings and events, actively engaging with stakeholders and community partners.Curriculum Development Duties:

Lead the development and evaluation of the continuous improvement of academic programs, ensuring they are aligned with industry standards and best practices.Identify and implement innovative andragogical approaches, incorporating technology and active learning strategies to enhance the learning experience.Work collaboratively with faculty across the system to develop courses, revise curricula, and ensure program coherence.Foster collaboration with external partners to create relevant and responsive programs that meet workforce needs.Teaching Duties (as assigned):

Maintain an active teaching role to stay connected with the student experience and curriculum implementation.Contribute to specific academic programs as needed, demonstrating expertise and leadership in your field.Share andragogical expertise with colleagues through professional development workshops and mentorship opportunities.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONOur campus is located in downtown Denver, adjacent to two light rail stations, and just minutes away from shopping, restaurants, and event venues.
