Montauk Yacht Club is seeking a Director of People & Culture at our 107-room luxury property within The Collective. As the Director of People & Culture, you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of our hotel's human resources function. You will be responsible for recruiting, retaining and developing our talented colleagues, ensuring that they are aligned with Proper’s values and committed to delivering exceptional service to our guests. Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate interviews and selection
Oversee the onboarding of new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization
Employee Relations
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment
Address employee concerns and mediate conflicts when necessary
Performance Management
Develop and implement performance appraisal systems
Provide coaching and feedback to employees to enhance their performance and career growth
Training & Development
Identify training needs and coordinate training programs for staff
Support employee development initiatives to promote career progression
Compensation & Benefits
Manage the hotel's compensation and benefits programs
Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations
Policy Implementation
Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures
Keep policies up-to-date with changing laws and industry standards
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations
Prepare and submit reports related to HR metrics
Safety & Health
Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources management, preferably in the hospitality industry
Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
HR certification (e.g., SHRM, HRCI) is a plus
