We are seeking an
Director - Environmental, Health & Safety
to join our dynamic and growing team in Coventry, RI.
Position Summary:
The Director - EHS is responsible for implementing, managing, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations at the Coventry site.
Principal Duties:
To provide environmental regulatory guidance to site personnel regarding new product introduction into the facility.
Assess new process air emissions to assure compliance with existing facility air.
Identify RCRA hazardous waste disposal options for new wastes to be generated during new product introduction.
Assess new wastewater streams that may be created and assure that the management of the wastewater is performed in compliance with the existing site wastewater pretreatment discharge permit with the town of West Warwick Sewer Commission as well as compliance with all state of Rhode Island and federal Clean Water Act regulatory requirements.
Provide environmental oversight for facility environmental programs:
Manage all aspects of facility compliance with air pollution control permit requirements including adherence to the site Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program, monthly internal air emissions tracking, and reporting of hazardous air pollutants and volatile organic compounds utilized by the facility and completion of notification submissions to state regulatory agencies for new process/product emissions.
Oversee all aspects of the facility RCRA hazardous waste program including proper waste characterizations, on-site accumulation, and utilization of properly permitted off-site disposal facilities.
Manage Clean Water Act program issues at the facility including all compliance issues relative to the wastewater pre-treatment discharge permits issued by the town of West Warwick Sewer Commission including oversight of all new wastewater facility approvals as well as the permit required reporting of monthly and quarterly wastewater sample testing results.
Responsible for development, proper implementation, and training for all facility regulatory plans such as:
Facility Leak Detection and Repair Plan
Storm Water Management Plan
Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan
Integrated Contingency Plan
Wastewater Slug Control Plans
Responsible for completion and submission of all annual and biennial environmental regulatory reports to state and federal regulatory agencies including:
SARA 312
SARA 313
Toxic Release and Inventory Report
RCRA Hazardous Biennial Waste Report
Rhode Island Air Inventory Report
Function as a liaison between Pharmaron and State and Federal environmental regulatory agencies regarding all environmental regulatory compliance issues at the Coventry site.
Provide program management for the Occupational Safety and Health Programs at the Coventry site for the following programs:
Management of the site Safe to Work Permit
Management of the site Industrial Hygiene
Management of the site Safety and Health Audits, Inspections and Incident Investigation
Management of the general employee health and safety programs such as medical surveillance and respiratory protection programs. Oversight of all regulatory records and reports associated with the site Safety and Health Programs.
Education and Experience:
BS degree in environmental, safety, health, or related field.
Minimum 15+ years of experience in Environmental, Safety and Health; Preferably with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of Rhode Island Environmental Regulatory Programs is a plus.
Thorough knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910 and 1926.
Thorough working knowledge in confined space, hot work, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, lab safety, respiratory protection, OSHA record keeping and reporting and emergency.
Experience in environmental programs including RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and regulatory.
Experience in negotiations with regulatory agencies and waste disposal.
Environmental auditing of facilities and waste.
