Job Summary:
The role of the Foundation Director is to operate in a high-profile capacity to promote and enhance the mission and key relationships associated with the Avon Education Foundation. The Foundation Director will oversee all operations, fundraising, grant opportunities, public relations, marketing, and community relations activities for the Avon Education Foundation. The Foundation Director will perform all duties to the office and such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operations
Cultivate the organization’s culture through leadership, motivation, and vision
Develop work plans and manage resources in collaboration with the Board to meet strategic planning goals
Direct the daily operations of the organization, including managing programs, committees, volunteers, website/social media, and finances
Manage and communicate the meetings for events, committees, board meetings, etc. This will include scheduling meetings, managing action items, signing contracts, assisting with purchases, etc.
Fundraising
Advance fundraising goals and opportunities through donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporations, individuals, grants, and other funders in collaboration with volunteer leadership and Board of Directors
Direct marketing and public relations activities
Educate and assist the Foundation’s working Board of Directors on how to secure sponsors and successful fundraising methods
Board Governance
Assure all Foundation activities comply with Federal and State of Indiana laws, and the AEF Code of Bylaws and the AEF Policy Manual
Develop, revise and implement all AEF policies and programs in collaboration with AEF Committee Chairs while providing guidance regarding best practices for Education Foundations
Assist the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic planning in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner
Community Relations
Serve as official spokesperson for the Foundation and participate in activities that increase the visibility of the Foundation – at Foundation events, in the school community (including staff meetings, orientations and other misc meetings) and in the community at large
Identify needs and opportunities to provide programmatic support to Avon’s schools, teachers, and students
Serve as the Foundation’s primary liaison to the Avon school corporation
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong leadership experience, organizational skills, and a strategic mindset
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic
Excellent relationship building and communication skills
Proven fundraising, budgeting, and grant writing experience required
Strong human relations skills including professionalism, diplomacy, civility, and confidentiality
Experience working with boards, donors, volunteers, administrators, educators, and/or children
May need to work extended or flexible hours during event preparation times or after-hour meetings
Experience with a nonprofit is preferred
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Capable of lifting/carrying 20 lbs.; some physical activity required
