DESCRIPTION

In this position, you will be a key part of our core team, at the forefront of taking next-generation chemistries and packaging them into advanced battery cells. We are looking for a hands-on Facilities Manager with excellent attention to detail to join our team in the Bay Park area of San Diego, CA. This position will oversee shipping and receiving operations, lab management, equipment maintenance, and the transition to a new facility. The Facilities Manager will also handle aspects related to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), including regulatory compliance, and the management of dangerous goods and hazardous materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Facility Operations:

Oversee daily operations of the manufacturing and lab facilities to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive environment.

Manage shipping and receiving processes, including coordination with logistics providers and oversight of inventory.

Coordinate and manage the relocation to the new facility, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal disruption to operations.

Lab and Equipment Management:

Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and machinery.

Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment repairs and servicing.

Implement and monitor maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Regulatory Compliance:

Develop, implement, and monitor programs and procedures to ensure total compliance with all local, state and federal requirements and regulations.

Assist in maintaining necessary permits, licenses, and certifications related to hazardous materials handling, waste management, air quality, and other environmental aspects.

Stay up to date with regulatory changes and update company policies accordingly.

Hazardous Materials Packaging and Transportation Compliance:

Manage and oversee transportation operations, including the handling, packaging, shipping, and delivery of hazardous materials in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Maintain knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods regulations and legislation.

Develop and implement customs compliance procedures and policies.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 8+ years of experience in facilities management, preferably within a lab or manufacturing environment.

Applied knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations.

Demonstrated record of successfully leading teams, projects, and/or programs.

Experience with compliance for shipping regulations.

Communicate effectively with various levels of employees within all areas of the organization including technicians to Senior Leadership.

Exceptional organizational skills and high consideration for detail.

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and succeed in an environment with competing demands.

An aptitude for learning new things and a keen eye for improving processes.

Ability to lift 35 lbs.
