Position is located in Norwalk, CT.

Commitment to Internal Control:

The Corporate Development Director (strategy) is responsible for supporting business strategy and planning, acquisition targeting, and other related activities across Mitsubishi HC Capital America, Inc. (MHCA). This role will provide critical support in identifying, evaluating, and implementing corporate development initiatives as MHCA seeks to achieve its strategic growth objectives.

This individual will be responsible for working with Corporate Development team members and internal business partners to drive MHCA’s annual, medium-, and long-term planning processes (Medium-Term Management Plan, MTMP), including related competitive research, market analytics, presentation development, and monitoring of performance vs. plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the advancement of the Corporate Development strategy and manage activities to establish and achieve inorganic growth objectives.

Participate in opportunity ideation and prospect targeting.

Participate in inorganic opportunity identification and prioritization.

Identify and evaluate new market opportunities via economic, financial, and industry analyses, consistent with MHCA’s strategy; prepare HQ white papers to support new growth initiatives.

Manage Corporate Development initiatives and projects, including related project launches and integration projects across MHCA. Initiatives/projects may include:

Proofs-of-concept development and launches.

Business incubation initiatives.

Deal integration.

Strategic relationship support.

Work with business leaders, functional leaders, and financial planning and analysis team members to drive strategic planning process through the Medium-Term Management Plan, inclusive of new product strategy/design, go to market/competitive positioning, and related activities.

Partner with cross functional teams to complete corporate development initiatives and support related transaction opportunities.

KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators):

Complete assigned tasks on time and which meet established quality standards.

Support the Corporate Development team’s assigned income goal through contributions to inorganic growth strategy and transaction sourcing, due diligence, and closings.

Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority:Act independently; Decision-making within Company policy.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:

Experience in business planning processes for large, multi-product specialty finance company, inclusive of product strategy/design, go to market approach, competitive positioning, and marketing communications.

Experience in secondary research and the distillation of complex information sets into coherent summaries, including the use of tools and practices used in business opportunity research and analysis (i.e., Capital IQ, industry association data).

Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of commercial financing activities, including equipment finance, structured/project finance, asset-based lending/receivables lending, and inventory finance.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to organize and prioritize work streams for multiple initiatives.

Robust skills in presentation preparation, including storyboarding, content sourcing, layout, and delivery.

M&A, strategic alliance, and/or joint venture execution and integration experience is a plus.

Significant experience in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) required.

Knowledge/ prior use of Salesforce.com.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in creating and delivering presentations to management.

Conscientiously attends to detail to produce precise and error-free work.

Ability to coordinate available resources to accomplish the efficient and effective completion of a project.

Education and Experience:

8+ years of experience in management/strategy consulting (ideally in the commercial finance sector) or experience working in a corporate development or strategy capacity.

Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics, Business, or related field) or equivalent experience.

MBA desirable.

Personal computer, copier, phone, and other typical office equipment.

Working Hours:

Hours may vary and will require some evening work; frequently requires working 40-45 hours/week depending on business needs.

Travel:

Minimal

Physical Demands:

Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment.

Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.

Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person.

Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another.

The salary will be between $185,000.00 and $212,000.00 with an opportunity to a discretionary bonus.

The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience and education.
