Director Finance

Responsibilities & Candidate Profile:

The Director Finance will be responsible for all aspects of financial planning and analysis, including: budgeting and forecasting; development of management reports; design and deployment of key operating metrics and the company scorecard; providing accurate and timely analysis to the Finance & Accounting, CEO and CFO; supporting the company’s commercial functions with accurate and consistent financial analysis; preparing investor charts and materials; and engaging in company-wide business planning.

The position will lead the implementation of process improvements in financial reporting and close activities. The position will also engage with the Finance & Accounting and Corporate Controller to provide best-in-class financial reporting and analysis to the organization, including the development and mentoring of a high-performing team.

The ideal candidate will have: excellent communication skills; acumen for financial analysis and identifying trends; ability to design and maintain organized databases; high level of accuracy and attention to detail; desire to improve processes and implement change; and experience in leading teams to improve functional reliability and performance. The position will work directly with a wide span of functional leaders and executives. As such, the candidate will need to have demonstrated capabilities in effectively partnering on a cross-functional basis and engaging with executives in a manner that aligns financial analysis with the company’s strategies and objectives.

Examples of Typical Activities:

Set the direction for annual, quarterly, and monthly business planning activities

Enhance the forecasting process and manage forecasts, working closely with sales, marketing, and operations to incorporate expectations for volume and margins by customer and category

Develop or refresh key management reports and gain user input and acceptance to templates for business management reporting, including consistent and accurate reporting of profitability by customer, product category, and key initiatives

Prepare analysis, materials, and charts for senior executives to use with the company’s investors

Perform ad hoc financial analysis, including modeling outcomes of various business scenarios

Direct and manage the activities of analysts to provide pricing desk support and margin analysis to commercial teams

Create guidelines and thresholds for the prioritization of capital expenditures, ensuring to drive focus to margin enhancements

Produce investment analysis templates and financial tracking models to drive accountability in the product development and commercial launch cycles

Responsibility for budgeting & forecasting; establish the timeline and approach for preparing the annual budget and periodic financial forecasting

Oversee the preparation and processing of all employee payroll and annual bonuses

Tax with external advisor

Tracking cash flow: Managing the company's financial actions

A/R, A/P management, Credit line management

Guiding financial strategy: Collaborating with the executive management team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies

Providing strategic recommendations: Making recommendations on organizational direction to CFO, CEO and other senior leaders

Proposing corrective action plans when necessary

Team Management

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

MBA and CPA preferred.

Requires 10+ years of progressively responsible experience to include: financial reporting and analysis; budgeting and planning; ERP systems; and managing information in databases

Experience in large corporations with FP&A management responsibilities, reporting to a business unit general manager or finance director

Experience in consumer products industry a plus

Required Technical Competencies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excel and financial modeling skills; SAP, ERP and Hyperion systems experience preferred

Proficient with MS Office Suite, including strong PowerPoint / presentation skills

Self-starter, creative thinker and advanced analytical problem-solving skills

Demonstration of outstanding analytical and critical-thinking skills
