We are a dynamic, fast-paced organization with consistently demonstrated growth, including internationally, and are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as Director, Global Tax.

Reporting directly to the VP Finance and Corporate Controller, the Director, Global Tax will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our global tax strategy, planning and compliance. This pivotal role requires a seasoned strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in domestic and international tax law and regulations, as well as strong leadership skills to manage diverse internal and external teams across different jurisdictions.

The Director is responsible for developing and implementing the Company’s corporate tax strategy and seeking out international and domestic tax planning opportunities. They will manage the global transfer pricing analysis as well as international tax compliance, and associated US impacts of international operations. In addition, the equity administration and accounting function currently report into this leader providing a unique opportunity to manage another critical area for the Company.

This leader will be instrumental to leading a team of professionals in achieving consistent global practices and maximizing the use of processes and systems to achieve a high-level of operating performance, compliance and accuracy in each of these areas.

The Day-to-Day

As a collaborative leader, the Director will proactively partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure organizational success. These key stakeholders will include finance, accounting, HR, sales, operations, and legal. Developing and leveraging these relationships will be key to their success.

A successful candidate will have sound general leadership and business acumen, technical and analytical skills, and demonstrated ability to think critically as well as build capabilities for organizations.

Tax Strategy and Planning:

Develop and execute comprehensive global tax strategies aligned with the company's financial goals and regulatory requirements, while also reducing administrative burden.

Lead the organization as we approach new areas of taxation or compliance (e.g., Pillar 2).

Lead initiatives to optimize the company's worldwide tax structure to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with local, national, and international tax laws.

Provide guidance and support to regional tax teams, ensuring consistency and efficiency in tax planning and reporting.

Identify and help maximize international and domestic tax incentives including R&D credits, and other relevant business credits

Tax Compliance and Reporting:

Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax returns and related documentation across multiple jurisdictions.

Oversee tax provision, disclosures and reporting processes in accordance with relevant standards and for accuracy and completeness.

Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the company and advise management accordingly.

Manage global transfer pricing analysis, reporting, and related intercompany documentation and processes. Additionally, drive support around managing expat situations, business filings, and sales tax / VAT and related taxability analysis.

Risk Management and Audit Support:

Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities globally, working closely with legal counsel and external advisors as needed.

Implement effective tax risk management strategies to mitigate potential exposures and penalties.

M&A and Business Development:

Conduct thorough tax due diligence and strategic guidance on mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions to optimize tax outcomes and identify key risks or exposures.

Lead post-acquisition integration efforts, including to harmonize tax structures and maximize synergies.

Team Leadership and Development:

Provide visionary leadership to the tax team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Lead a high-performing global tax team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Act as a key advisor to executive and senior leaders on tax-related matters, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making.

Cultivate relationships globally with external stakeholders, including taxing/regulatory authorities, auditors, and tax advisors, to stay informed of regulatory changes and industry best practices.

Collaborate closely with finance, accounting, legal, HR, sales, sales operations and other departments to provide tax advice on business initiatives and operations.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.

Minimum 12 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years management experience.

Demonstrated, strong leadership experience (formal or informal). Ability to develop and motivate teams and provide strategic direction for them.

Excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail

Strong oral and written communication skills with a highly collaborative communication style and practice

Bias for continuous improvement with demonstrated experience and successes in change management

Astute at making financially sound decisions

Experience managing third-party vendors

Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships

Proven competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Nice to haves

Masters degree in Taxation preferred.

Experience with ERP systems preferred.

Experience with tax provision and compliance software desired.

Experience in the technology and/or SaaS industry is helpful but not required.
