SUMMARY:
The Office of the Provost seeks an experienced and exceptional individual to serve as the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Palm Beach Atlantic University. A collaborative, experienced, forward-thinking individual is being sought to join our dynamic Academic Affairs team and help advance our institutional mission and strategic plan: to equip students to grow in wisdom, lead with conviction, and serve God boldly.
Reporting to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer, the Senior Vice Provost will be responsible for leading a fully orbed system of faculty support and give oversight of academic program planning and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primary/critical responsibilities:
Serves as a key member of the Office of the Provosts leadership team:
Collaborates with other university units and as a liaison with external agencies
Advises the provost on complex, sensitive, and confidential issues
Executes projects that advance the university
Leads or advances academic initiatives by creating implementation plans in a coordinated and strategic manner
Supervising leaders within the Office of the Provost and collaborating with academic deans, responsible for leading a Faculty Support System, including but not limited to:
Ensuring effective onboarding of new faculty
Strengthening the faculty academic culture, giving clear pathways for faculty advancement
Supporting faculty in the pursuit of a faith-infused academic culture
Bringing research and grant opportunities to the faculty experience
In collaboration with academic deans and other university offices, responsible for providing oversight to academic program planning and initiatives, including but not limited to:
New academic programs (from research, development, approvals, to launch)
Curricular reviews
Curricular integrity, synergy, and efficiencies
Academic program health analytics
Regional and national accreditation
Annual assessment
Collaborative management of online program offerings
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Less critical or infrequent responsibilities:
Represent the Provost and Chief Academic Officer in his/her absence
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Staff Employee Supervisory
Education:
Must possess a doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience:
7+ years of progressive experience in academic administration; imagining, developing, implementing, and overseeing academic programs, curricular processes, and collaboratively leading and supporting faculty; and experience with program review, regional, and multiple national accreditation bodies.
Superior leadership, organizational, planning, and management skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with a wide spectrum of people. Interpersonal skills must allow this individual to function professionally and wisely during difficult conversations, while under stress, and while managing challenging situations.
Ability to think imaginatively and design creative solutions to complex problems.
Integrity, maturity, professionalism, and care that is fitting for faith-based university that values excellence and the Christian ethos to permeate all aspects of university life.
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to work non-routine hours during certain times of the year
