JOB PURPOSE:

The Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) will be responsible for the leadership and function of the nursing and patient services departments assigned and overall quality of nursing care delivered at the facility. This person is responsible for supporting the company’s overall mission, vision and values of patient care, community outreach, research, and education. This person will plan, organize, direct, and evaluate nursing care and provide strategic and operational leadership at the facility level. The CNO will be accountable for advancing nursing practice across the organization to ensure the delivery of care that is consistent with the highest contemporary standards. Any position that has direct patient care is considered to be safety sensitive by Avem Health Partners standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Works to positively support and improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the approach to patient-centered care, and in serving our caregivers, customers and community.

Works as a positive, change agent and transformational leader in alignment with company’s organizational values and strategic plan.

Establishing, integrating, and maintaining uniform standards of care, and developing hospital-wide patient care programs, policies and procedures.

Develops fiscally responsible operational performance and quality objectives.

Oversees nursing schedules to assure they meet patient care needs and regulatory and budgetary standards.

Reviews and assess patient satisfaction. Fosters an environment of patient satisfaction excellence.

Manages the development, direction, and operation of the nursing and patient services to provide high-quality patient care.

Implementing and ensuring the inclusion of patient safety and quality programs to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients for the areas of responsibility.

Directing the development of management planning and control tools.

Participating in the development of an organization that values and fosters nursing education, nursing and multidisciplinary research, succession planning and a professional practice environment.

Performs rounds to observe patient care and to interview staff, patients, families, or other interested parties.

Ensures clinical documentation meets current standards and policies.

Works with leadership and staff to implement approved policies and procedures that reflect current regulatory standards and best practice.

Keeps up to date with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

Oversees preparation for regulatory agencies, educates and assists department managers to maintain appropriate policies and procedures to fulfill requirements and regulations.

Participates in risk management and safety activities.

Provides support and assistance to medical staff officers, committee chairpersons and Governing Body, as required.

Utilizes information obtained via performance improvement activities to seek and act on opportunities to improve patient care processes.

Ensuring continued compliance with state, federal and accrediting agency regulations and standards for nursing, and establishing improvement activities aimed at maintaining compliance.

Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.

Monitors facility incidents and complaints daily to identify those defined as unusual occurrences by State policy and promptly reports such occurrences in appropriate database and to Administrator for appropriate action.

Proactively develops positive employee relations by promoting teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.

Completes monthly quality related data entry analysis and reporting as requested.

Oversees or is responsible for the clinical services certification programs, competency testing, and all related records.

Promotes customer service and hospitality and responds to and adequately resolves complaints or concerns from patients or families about nursing services.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Adhere to the Avem Health Partners Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior. Complies with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, BSN required.

Progressive leadership experience 5-7 years preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of patient care and hospital systems.

Critical access experience preferred.

Experience functioning both as a member and a leader of a multi-disciplinary team in tackling issues of quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction and resource allocation.

Experience leading change management, in particular the approaches and methods of process improvement, including planning, setting priorities, systematic performance assessment, implementation based on such assessment, and sustaining achieved improvement.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

Current RN license from the State of Oklahoma Board of Nursing.

Current BLS (or obtained within 30 days of hire).

Current ACLS (or obtained within 30 days of hire).

Current PALS (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
