The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Materials Technician in the Department of Public Works. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status**

Under general supervision, performs materials testing, inspection, and other work as related.

**NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:

Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.

Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position work hours are 6:00 am to 4:00 pm with a work schedule of a split shift of 4/9.5 hour days (Monday - Friday) with a choice of Wednesday or Thursday off.

External candidates, probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range, if selected.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Four (4) years technical experience in engineering relating to materials testing and inspections.

Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.

Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.

Must be licensed by the appropriate federal agencies for the use of nuclear testing equipment.

Must be certified and maintain American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I Certification and obtain and maintain Concrete Strength Testing Technician Certification within one year of hire.

Must be certified and maintain Nevada Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (NAQTC) registration as a Qualified Technician for Sampling and Density, and obtain and maintain Aggregate and Asphalt Extended certification within one year of hire.

SICK LEAVE

Three consecutive days of leave, with pay, per occurrence, to attend funeral for immediate family member; increased to one work week when funeral is held 400 statute miles or more from City of Henderson
