SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to have direct responsibility for the safe and efficient planning and production of all flour and bakery mix packaged products for Mennel. This position will sustain the Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.
PRIMARY WORK SHIFT:
Monday through Friday 8AM – 5PM. Will vary, depending on workload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation.
Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
Oversees and directs the operations of Mennel facilities.
Develops pricing models for contract manufacturing work.
Active member of Mennel’s corporate leadership team; responsible for setting the strategies and goals for the company’s core packing and bakery mix operations.
Responsible for executing the strategic and tactical plans as established with the VP of Packaged Products.
Provides the overall business and technical leadership necessary to ensure that the packaged products division meets and/or exceed goals in all key performance areas of Cost, Quality, Sanitation, System Performance, Customer Service, & EHS.
Responsible to be a champion for continuous improvement and will implement successful strategies to achieve overall operational excellence.
Lead, motivate, and develop managers, supervisors, and hourly employees to achieve outstanding manufacturing performance results, while leveraging Continuous Improvement tools, improving individual skill sets, and enhancing teamwork.
Must foster a “zero” incident EHS culture and mentality throughout the company and strive for world-class safety performance by ensuring that Mennel’s pack facilities and finished products meet and/or exceed the company and government standards of quality, sanitation, and safety.
Tasks with a leadership role in the planning, development, execution, and management of various capital projects across all packing locations, both large and small in scope and cost.
Maintains existing external customer relationships and is the conduit for information and communication flow between the customer/broker and the Mennel production site.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will provide direct management of the direct reports as outlined in the organizational chart for the packaged products division.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in an Operations or Manufacturing related field is required.
10-15 years of progressive plant management experience in a food manufacturing environment is required.
Proven operations experience, with evidence of meeting or exceeding targets.
Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive level.
Proven ability to manage projects in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
Extensive experience and knowledge of packaging equipment and systems is required.
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to implement change, influence business strategies, guide and direct others, and resolve conflict are critical skills required of this position.
Excellent technical writing, speaking, and presentation skills.
Ability to develop and lead strategic initiatives as well as plan the specific tactics to achieve the strategic vision.
Ability to develop and coach others.
Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and change.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, flowsheets, construction drawings, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans. Ability to write reports, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.

The noise level in the work environment usually requires the use of hearing protection. Work involves exposure to common wheat allergens.
