About the role:We are seeking a Senior Commodity Manager, Plastics and Consumables with a strong background in strategic sourcing and supplier management in support of sustaining production, new and transfer component product launches for plastics and other components to join our growing Global Supply Chain Team. The candidate will be responsible for leading the supply chain activities related to plastic and consumable materials for assay kits produced here at 10X. This candidate will work with cross-functional teams and will play a key role in supporting organizational success in deploying supply chain management best practices.

What you will be doing:

Lead category strategy development efforts for both custom and off-the-shelf plastic components and other materials used in consumables kit production for sample containment, packaging, imaging, etc.

Manage supplier relationships and lead negotiations for programs in this space.

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for transfer and new programs.

Ensure proactive alignment on supplier selection strategies that prioritize long-term supply chain sustainability, manufacturability, quality excellence, and competitive cost.

Ensure tooling and sourcing strategy is aligned with overall supply chain risk management plans.

Conduct Bill of Materials (BOM) cost analysis and should-cost modeling to identify cost-saving opportunities. Lead efforts to drive cost improvements without compromising quality.

Participate in make-buy decisions and support the sourcing plan for components and assemblies, especially outsourcing of value-add activity, subassembly, kitting, etc.

Provide feedback to the organization regarding new technology, process, or materials breakthroughs that could positively influence product performance, quality, and cost.

Lead RFQs, SOW, and other contract negotiations to ensure favorable terms, pricing, and quality standards.

Provide budgetary guidance for capex, product costs, market conditions, etc., as part of annual planning and financial analysis.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Ops Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Polymer Science.

8 years of strategic sourcing experience in category management or related procurement role for injection molded plastics, packaging, components, and filters, OEM suppliers to life science or healthcare.

Experience in program management for tool transfers or new program bring up at suppliers.

Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.

Strong business acumen and comfortable making effective decisions in ambiguity.

Hands-on ability to perform analysis on large amounts of data to drive insights and decisions.

Comprehensive knowledge of contract commercial terms and ability to lead supply agreement negotiations independently.

Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and juggle shifting priorities and tight timelines.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Direct experience with budget tracking and KPI management for defined categories in an established manufacturing supply chain.

Experience leading cross-functional commercial and technical project teams.

Familiarity with ISO 13485, GMP, or other regulated QMS manufacturing and procurement procedures and requirements.

Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems and planning tools such as Oracle, SAP, QAD, or other commonly used manufacturing software.

Experience with resin selection, costing, risk mitigation.

Experience with sourcing injection molded parts and products, including over-molding and microfluidic parts.
