This is a hands-on, working manager position.

The Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources practices and processes. The VP, Human Resources will be called upon to develop and drive human capital strategy that is responsive to and anticipatory of the evolving needs of Financial Partners and the ongoing trends in the industry. This role is crucial for supporting the Credit Union's mission, vision, and values by ensuring a high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, and standards, as well as goal attainment. The VP of HR will provide strategic direction and leadership to the HR department, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy of the $2.5 billion asset credit union.

The Vice President, Human Resources will inherit a strong team of HR professionals. As a critical business partner to the executive leadership team and across the organization, the Vice President, Human Resources will play an integral role in the ongoing growth and development of Financial Partners' leadership team, and the institution's rich culture of trust and commitment to service. Reporting to the EVP, Chief Administrative Officer, and as part of the senior leadership team, the Vice President, Human Resources will oversee the areas of talent acquisition, talent management and organizational and performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and all employment-related compliance.

Understanding employment law with a strong focus on the California market is critical to success in this role.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the HR department in fostering a productive and inclusive work environment

Serve as a strategic advisor to Senior Management on all HR matters

Oversee strategic planning, needs analysis, and maintenance of all human capital initiatives.

Direct organizational, operational, and fiscal reviews for the purpose of identifying issues as related to human capital and create strategies necessary to service a growing and changing business environment.

Implement effective talent management strategies including succession planning, career development and performance management

Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives

Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs.

Ensure compliance with all relevant wage and hourly regulations and standards and laws

Ensure highly accurate payroll administration

Conduct regular benchmarking to ensure the Credit Union remains an employer of choice

Work collaboratively with legal counsel and others to ensure that compensation policies and practices comply with all applicable laws.

Lead the development, design and administration of effective performance incentive plans

Develop and oversee the implementation and administration of employment policies that comply with applicable laws and advance the institution's objectives.

Foster a positive employee relations environment

Handle complex employee relations issues with discretion and fairness

Keep up to date with changes in employment laws/legislations, and maintain knowledge of industry trends affecting the institution's business

Responsible for the overall administration of Financial Partners' health benefit programs. Work with Financial Partners' benefits broker to research, recommend and implement benefits initiatives aimed at containment in healthcare costs.

Work closely with Financial Partners' Plan administrator/record keeper, ERISA attorney and fiduciary partner in the overall administration of the 401(k) and other retirement plans.

Leverage HR technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness of HR processes

Use HR analytics to inform strategic decision-making

Monitor HR metrics to measure effectiveness and drive improvements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field

Minimum of 10 years of HR leadership experience in organizations of scale

Five years' experience HR leadership roles

SHRM-SCP, SPHR or other HR certification preferred

Proven experience in strategic HR management within a financial services environment, preferably within a Credit Union

Demonstrated experience in all core functional areas of HR: recruitment, retention, compensation, payroll, benefits administration, performance management, and employee relations

Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations and best practices

Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment

High level of integrity and confidentiality

Possess collaborative decision-making abilities to forge successful partnerships across organizational boundaries, at both senior and operational levels.
