The Development Director is responsible for strategic planning and oversight to ensure short- and long-term financial viability and sustainability of Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI). The Development Director drives the organization's critical fundraising arm and works diligently to ensure we meet and exceed our annual fundraising goals. Most importantly, the Development Director ensures that our organization is financially positioned to provide excellent services to our youth, families, and communities.

Primary ResponsibilitiesPillar 1: Fundraising Strategy and Leadership

Collaborate, develop, and oversee the organizational strategy for short-, medium-, and long-term fundraising goals.

Oversee the successful execution of major fundraising events, including the annual SEI Gala.

Lead the gift planning program and oversee all planned giving stewardship programs.

Lead the planning and execution of capital campaigns and other initiatives.

A demonstrated and proven ability (and expertise) in mediating and facilitating complex conflict resolution processes.

Supervise Development staff members and provide meaningful coaching, guidance, and support to direct reports.

Facilitate the development and implementation of staff work plans, and provide regular 1-on-1s, team meetings, and performance reviews.

Maintain the highest standard of personal conduct and integrity in performing all duties.

Pillar 2: Donor Relations and Stewardship

Maintain donor portfolio of $600,000 per year.

Solicit donations of $40,000 and up.

Oversee the implementation and execution of digital campaigns and digital donor engagement strategies.

Record actions in Raisers Edge NXT donor database.

Pillar 3: Financial Management and Reporting

Collaborate in developing and managing the annual budget and business planning for the Development Department.

Manage monthly fundraising reports and other database reports, as needed.

Share information appropriately and involve the key internal and external stakeholders in solving problems.

Ability to work evenings and weekends is required due to the nature of this position.

Desired Education and Experience

Masters Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Labor & Industrial Relations, Finance, or related field (and/or equivalent years of experience).

Progressive experience overseeing and managing leadership executives with experience and expertise in Development, Fundraising, etc.

Extensive experience identifying, addressing, and implementing proven fundraising and or revenue generating campaigns.

Experience integrating trauma-informed practices into all aspects of work as related to racism, favoritism, discriminatory practices, and the intersectionality of oppression for disenfranchised groups.

Valid driver's license required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position requires in-person interaction, meetings, and coaching.

Required to adhere to work location safety and building protocols.

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching.

Repetitive hand and wrist motion for pushing/pulling and fine manipulation.

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Driving a motor vehicle is frequently required.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Location: This position is based in the Portland Metro Area.

Work performed will be predominantly onsite.

Up to 10% travel (based on business needs).
