A law firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced Project Development / Finance Counsel specializing in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in advising and negotiating EPC contracts and agreements, demonstrating exceptional legal acumen and stellar academic credentials. Previous experience in a comparable law firm or in-house legal role is highly preferred.DutiesProvide legal counsel on complex EPC projects, including contract negotiation, drafting, and review.Advise clients on project development, finance, and construction matters to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Negotiate and structure EPC contracts and agreements to effectively manage risk and protect client interests.Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to address legal issues and develop strategic solutions.Conduct thorough legal research and analysis related to project finance and development.Represent clients in disputes and proceedings related to EPC projects, including arbitration and litigation.Stay current on industry trends, legal developments, and regulatory changes impacting EPC projects.Develop and implement strategies for resolving complex legal issues and managing potential risks.Draft and review various legal documents, including agreements, contracts, and memoranda.RequirementsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Active membership in the Bar of Washington, DC, or eligibility to obtain Bar admission.Experience in advising and negotiating EPC contracts and agreements.Demonstrated expertise in project development and finance, particularly within the EPC sector.Proven track record of handling complex legal matters related to construction and procurement projects.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex legal concepts.Experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department is highly preferred.Strong client management skills with a focus on delivering exceptional service and results.EducationJD from an accredited law school.Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.CertificationsLicensed to practice law in Washington, DC (or eligibility to obtain Bar admission).SkillsExpertise in EPC contracts and agreements.Strong understanding of project development, finance, and construction law.Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.Ability to handle high-pressure situations and manage multiple priorities.Proficiency in legal research and analysis.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
