Job Description:

This position is eligible for up to one day remote work per week.

BASIC FUNCTION:

As a crucial member of the Associate Vice President and Dean of Student's leadership team, the Director of Student Engagement is strategic in cultivating an active, vibrant campus life that advances the overall student experience. The Director will deliver a comprehensive, creative, compelling, and intentional programmatic curriculum that promotes co-curricular learning and leadership development, fosters community growth and social connection, and encourages a healthy, diverse, and inclusive campus environment. The Director is an enthusiastic, innovative, student-centered educator and visionary leader who uses data to inform practice and to advance the goals of the Division of Student Affairs and institution. The Director will reimagine the use and operations of the Gerety Hall Student Center.

This position is considered an essential personnel position. The Director of Student Engagement has some on-call administrator (tier II) responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effectively lead the Office of Student Engagement team in the development, implementation, and promotion of programs, activities, and resources that enrich the quality of campus life at the University for students. Oversee the operations of the Gerety Hall Student Center.

Responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and processing all Student Engagement Office vendors and performer contracts.

Promote all activities of the Office and ensure that the Student Engagement website is accurate and up to date.

Represent the Office at Student Affairs and University meetings. Serve as an active member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT).

Manage the Office budget in conjunction with the budget of the Activities Funding Board (AFB).

Manage the University's R25 scheduling program in relation to student activities.

In collaboration with members of the Dean of Students Office, co-lead New Seahawk Orientation efforts.

Coordinate the commencement week calendar of Student Engagement including Commencement Ball, preside at Commencement Ball Committee meetings.

Serve as primary advisor to the Student Government Association.

Directly supervise, evaluate, and motivate direct reports which consists of Assistant Director for Programming, Student Engagement and LGBTQ+ Resource Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, and student staff.

Oversees office-wide assessment efforts of student engagement learning outcomes. Utilize data analytics to intentionally engage students, acting as a liaison between academic pursuits and community integration.

Serve in the 24-hour on-call administrator rotation, acting as a first responder when necessary.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate VP & Dean of Students.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Valid driver's license required.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This position is subject to both inside and outside work in extreme hot and cold temperatures. Evening and weekend hours are required in addition to regular office hours. The potential exists for exposure to loud noise and natural elements.

Job Requirements:

Required

A master's degree in college student personnel, higher education or related field, with five years of progressive experience within a student affairs leadership position is required. Working knowledge of event planning is a must. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required. Strong supervisory and organizational skills are required with the ability to work cooperatively with large numbers of students, staff and faculty. Must be able to work in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Must be people oriented with the willingness and ability to work with a traditional college-aged population. Must be able to work nights and weekends, in addition to regular office hours, to fulfill departmental activity requirements.

Preferred

Experience with a campus engagement platform (e.g. Campus Groups) is preferred.

Experience with an online reservation system (e.g. 25Live) is preferred.
