Job Summary and Qualifications The Director Purchased Services is responsible for leading, developing and implementing a Purchased Services strategic sourcing program for a multi-facility integrated delivery network (IDN). This position is responsible for reviewing and optimizing the current GPO contract portfolio through contract optimization, collaborating with the HealthTrust contracting team to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and contract negotiation as applicable.

This position is responsible for building strategic alliances with key stakeholders as it relates to a successful Purchased Services sourcing program.

What you will do in this role:

Leadership

Provides leadership in the area of expense management to contribute to the facility or IDNs overall strategic plan especially as it relates to Purchased Services.

Assess and provide leadership in the area of expense to guide and support organization’s strategy.

Assimilates information from variety of sources, able to analyze data, make strategic recommendations and execute a course of action for purchased services savings opportunities.

Develops, implements, and coordinates within the hospital or system: a system approach to Purchased Services savings opportunities; policies and procedures related to expense management of Purchased Services; contract optimization, standardization and utilization of contracted Purchased Services categories; participates in development of the agenda, follow up on action items assigned through the member Purchased Services Team; coordination with the GPO Commercial Products National and Custom Contracting Teams; preparation and management of RFPs for various Purchased Services.

Strategy Development, Validation and Risk Mitigation

Identify potential risks, challenges and opportunities for contracting of various purchased services categories.

Understand member needs/requirements.

Develop the contracting strategy with member that will mitigate risks, address member needs, and maximize the best outcome.

Formulate a clear vision of the strategy, articulate the vision, and execute the steps necessary to achieve the strategy.

Adept at reading situations, people/parties and adapting strategies or negotiations as necessary throughout the sourcing process.

Work closely with member stakeholders to align the customer with the strategy.

Customer Service

Manage customer expectations and deliver cost savings according to estimated timelines; minimizing overlap of focus with contracts already negotiated or those in process by the contracting team; utilizing customer participation in the process to achieve goals and objectives.

Interact and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges which may include clinicians, physicians, supply chain, and hospital leadership.

Continuously define and improve customer solutions as it relates to purchased services savings opportunities.

Provide educational opportunities to customers to understand the expense management program.

Build and maintain strong, effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders within the facility and corporate team, HealthTrust, Supply Chain, and organization’s leadership.

Financial

Establish and meet expense savings goals for customers as requested.

Collaborate with organizations to track and analyze financial data which may include but not limited to Purchased Services expense.

Complete assessment of all purchased services spend and submit category recommendations for IDN contracting plan. Work with IDN in development and management of final plan.

Provide cost saving enhancement strategies for Purchased Services categories working with customer’s representatives and HealthTrust contracting and Expense Management teams.

Develop standardized documents, processes, and calculations for use by the team to quantify savings solutions.

Provide analytical support to IDN by completing savings/bid analyses for various purchased services contract opportunities.

Project Management

Direct multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment that includes strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute; the ability to focus and execute exceptional time management.

The ability to be highly efficient and highly productive, demonstrating high volume of contracts/categories handled without sacrificing quality.

Demonstrate the ability to develop and successfully execute a project plan for major and complex projects.

Develop milestones for projects to determine outcomes are achieved that includes facilitating customer teams that lead to building consensus and contract implementation.

Assign goals to direct reports as appropriate and monitor goal achievement.

Manage bi-weekly Purchased Services project update calls with IDN and GPO national agreement team leads.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

College Graduate – Bachelors, required.

7+ Years Healthcare Contracting Experience, required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), required.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), required.

Strong analytical and negotiation skills, required.

Excellent presentation skills, required.
