Bicycle Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a novel class of medicines, referred to as Bicycle molecules, for diseases that are underserved by existing therapeutics. Bicycle molecules are fully synthetic short peptides constrained with small molecule scaffolds to form two loops that stabilize their structural geometry. This constraint facilitates target binding with high affinity and selectivity, making Bicycle molecules attractive candidates for drug development. The company is evaluating BT8009, a Bicycle Toxin Conjugate (BTC) targeting Nectin-4, a well-validated tumor antigen; BT5528, a BTC targeting EphA2, a historically undruggable target; and BT7480, a Bicycle Tumor-Targeted Immune Cell Agonist (Bicycle TICA) targeting Nectin-4 and agonizing CD137, in company-sponsored clinical trials. We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal team on a 12 month fixed term contract. The successful applicant will have a general experience of broader commercial work. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Legal, they will enjoy a varied role advising the company’s teams in the UK and US.Key responsibilities:Lead in the drafting, reviewing and negotiation of various legal agreements and other legal documents including services, confidentiality, material transfer, consultancy, research, collaboration, and IP license agreementsProvide legal support for the company’s clinical trials across multiple jurisdictionsProvide ad hoc general legal support as requiredAssist individuals in the business who need assistance with the contract approval processSupervise external counsel as requiredApply detailed understanding of the technologies, products, intellectual property and R&D activities of the businessInteract with key stakeholders in the UK and US on a daily basisAssist with management of any litigationQualifications
Essential:Qualified lawyer (3 years PQE or above).Experience in broad range of commercial and corporate legal advice, including commercial contracts and related IP issues.Good analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Ability to work in an international team across different time zones.Able to prioritise and manage a high volume of work.Ability to work across functions – excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to proactively identify issues, think strategically, propose and implement practical solutions.Willing to take on new challenges.Desirable:Experience advising life sciences companies.Experience working in the in-house environment.Additional Information
