12 hr shifts. Shift starts 645.Report is at the bedside.OT and extra shifts available.Self-scheduling is used, but not finalized until Manager balances it.Schedules are out 4 weeks.Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff.Block scheduling is generally not available.Unit Specific Information
Unit: 6T Surgical Acute# beds: 30Ratios: 1:4-5. If patients on tele then 1:4.EMR: CernerCharge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients.Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictate.Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.Holidays: Rotate in with core staff.Scrub Color: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black.Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.Vents: NoFloating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare.Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Bariatric surgery, post vascular, total joints, general ortho.Additional Details
For Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years).Unit managers will make the final call on scheduling.Modules are required to be done before the start of the assignment taking 3-4 hours, which is not billable.Offer off clinical prescreens.Manager has 24 hours to rescind the offer, if necessary.
