As we further solidify our market-leading position in the home inspection industry, meaningful business insights will be crucial in making the right decisions. Our Business Intelligence Engineer will take on a new role within our Finance & Operations team as we unlock valuable insights about how our customers and business have operated. You’ll report directly to the Head of Finance & Operations and have a unique opportunity to shape this role from the ground up, creating your own processes and methodologies. You’ll often work directly with our CEO and other leaders to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive our product development, customer success, and growth strategies. As a BI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing our data pipeline, enabling our teams to make informed, data-driven decisions. You will be an expert in creating scalable data solutions using Ruby/Rails, Postgres, Snowflake, and Domo and/or Holistics. Your role will be critical in transforming raw data into business insights through ETL processes, data modeling, and creating robust reports and dashboards.Core Responsibilities:Data Integration and Management: Quickly develop a deep understanding of our platform database and infrastructure. Design and implement ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into Snowflake. Develop and manage Snowflake data models, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and efficiency. Familiar with backend technologies, especially Ruby on Rails, to integrate data solutions with our application and automate data-related workflows. Able to maintain and expand our data warehouse (Snowflake) to ensure it supports current and future analytics needs. Optimize data loading, transformation, and retrieval processes for performance.Reporting and Visualization: Create and maintain interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports in visualization tools (ie: Holistics, Domo). Translate complex data sets into actionable insights through effective data visualization techniques. Customize and enhance visualization applications to meet specific business needs and objectives.Data Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and requirements. Perform ad-hoc data analysis and provide actionable recommendations based on findings. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track business performance.Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver BI solutions that support business goals. Communicate technical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner. Provide training and support to end-users on our BI tools, data analysis best practices and overall data literacy. Identify opportunities for data-driven improvements in our product, systems, processes and operations and take action on collaborating with other teams to implement them.Quality Assurance: Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing robust data validation and testing procedures. Monitor and troubleshoot BI systems and applications to resolve issues promptly. Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to continually improve BI processes and tools.Who You Are: You’re a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and gets excited by the prospect of building our business intelligence function from the ground up. You’re great at data analysis, advanced SQL querying, schema design and enabling teams to make data-driven decisions. Experience with BI tools Domo and/or Holistics. Familiar with Ruby and Ruby on Rails with demonstrated experience building and integrating data solutions. You have a combination of technical expertise in data engineering and business acumen. You have a solutions-oriented mindset and don’t require a perfect set of circumstances before taking action- Spectora is in the messy middle. You’re gifted in understanding data requirements to turn complex data into actionable data insights. You have 5+ years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, or a similar role, preferably spent in SaaS companies with large databases. You’ll need to have enough experience to setup systems and processes independently. You’re a great communicator.
