Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Gulfport Job Corps Center is a part of the nation's largest career technical training and education program.Responsible for helping to create a safe living and learning environment through effective management of residential living and recreation. Directly supervises all department staff in compliance with Job Corps program requirements, corporate guidelines, federal, state and local regulations.Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

Plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative and programmatic activities of the community living/recreational department; regularly assess and audit directorate for contractual compliance and delivery of quality services to students; prepare audit and assessment reports.Provide staff training, evaluate the performance of subordinates and recommend department and personnel changes to the center director in coordination with the human resources manager.Properly direct, evaluate, reward and discipline staff in accordance with corporate policies, center directives and government requirements.Prepare departmental budget, monitor and control expenditures.Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting community living and recreational functions.Assist the center director in formulating long range objectives, plans, and programs.Ensure effective management of student dorm unit government, peer courts and other dorm and center leadership programs.Assist with behavior management program, incentive and recreation program.Establish and maintain an effective dormitory inspection program and ensure facility maintenance is done when needed; regularly inspect assigned areas and maintain quality standards.Analyze statistical trends, organizational problems and operational requirements for review and appropriate action.Ensure a quality recreation program with a variety of on center and community based physical education, sports, arts and crafts, and cultural events and activities.Regularly inspect facilities and maintain quality standards.Maintain accountability of staff, students and property and adhere to safety practices.Cultivate and maintain a climate at the center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.Promote the development of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring student skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

Bachelor's degree in related field.Five (5) years related experience working with youth.Two (2) years in a supervisor capacity.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Successfully pass a background check and drug test.Reasonable Accommodation:CGS will provide reasonable accommodations, according to applicable state and federal laws, to all qualified individuals with physical or mental disabilities.
