The incumbent will perform engineering duties in planning and operational design of facility layouts, machinery utilization/upgrades, preventive and corrective maintenance and other mechanically functioning equipment. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment such as centralized heat, gas, water, and cryogenic supply lines, storage vessels/barges, special test equipment, facility modification and other SSC systems. Mandatory:
Apply advanced technical knowledge in solving complex problems associated with the fabrication, checkout, maintenance, adjustment, troubleshooting or modification of structural, hydraulic, propellant, pneumatic, fluid and rocket engine systems to assure operational readiness Determine the best methods for operating, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying systems or equipment and produce the procedures to accomplish the required tasks. Determine the best methods for facility modifications and activation to support new test programs or test articles Read and interpret documents such as fluid systems schematics, safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, manufacturer's manuals and similar documents. Write technical procedures, routine reports and correspondence through the use of Microsoft Office applications. Effectively coordinate and communicate technical issues with management and work in close contact with facility users and customers Effectively perform within a team environment ensuring that work is performed to the levels prescribed in the SSC and TOC procedures Perform work and maintain work area in a neat, orderly and safe manner Guide, instruct, and provide On-the-Job-Training (OJT) to technicians in the day-today maintenance and operations activities. Work with project managers and engineers on translating tasks into appropriate work instructions.
Job Requirements
Mandatory: Six {6} years site experience as an Engineering Technician or 5 years site experience with a related 2-year degree. Computer Experience. Good organizational and communication skills Ability to pay close attention to detail and take direction Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team oriented environment. Must have knowledge of DDMS, Maximo, Tech Doc System. Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge. Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal ), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire). Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner. Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must have dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position. Must meet and be able to maintain all certification requirements required for work area. Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract. Preferred: Associates degree in related field Functional knowledge of operations, test equipment and systems used. Must have demonstrated abilities at test facility/test article build-up, activation and active participant of test team with comprehension of propulsion testing outcome.
