Job Title: Social Media & Marketing Intern

Reports to: Marketing & Membership Director

Seasonal Position: August -- December

Compensation: $15/hr., Free Y Membership during internship

Status: 10-15 hours

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Y is seeking a fun, creative, enthusiastic, and outgoing individual to provide social media and marketing support for the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Social Media Intern will work closely with the Membership & Marketing Director and Assistant Director-Marketing & Design and interact with all staff members.

JOB DETAILS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Create and manage content for the company's social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, YouTube, Tik Tok etc.)Research & identify web trends and find new ways to engage our audience with new social media platformsAssists with the production of a wide range of marketing communicationsAssists with social media initiatives and updates sites as directedTakes photographsProvides support and input for the planning and execution of grass roots marketing initiatives throughout the region supporting new and current initiativesMay represent the YMCA at special eventsCompletes other design and marketing projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, communications or business administration preferredUnderstanding of various social media platformsBe proactive and generate ideas on how to improve current processes to generate and engage followersSelf-starter with the ability to work independentlyBasic understanding of working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Microsoft Office, social media platforms and basic camera skillsExcellent communication and organizational skillsResourcefulness, ability to take initiative, and to work both independently and as a team memberAvailability to work 10-15 hours per week in order to complete assigned projects
