Summary:
Provides patient care in the ED as delegated by the Licensed Nursing Staff. Performs EKGs and phlebotomy as needed in the department within the scope of the NA II.
Responsibilities:
Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.

Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course. Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Two years of health care experience preferred.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II, and BLS certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other infectious diseases. Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Working and standing throughout the shift. Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily.
