As a participant in the Co-op/Intern Professional Development Program, you will be cultivating professional skills and performing professional level work. You won't just be sitting in meetings and shadowing all summer; you'll be actively contributing and doing the same work as other FirstEnergy employees on your team. You'll receive on-the-job training and challenging assignments. You will also be assigned a Supervisor, a Coach/Mentor and a dedicated IT Intern Program Coordinator to help you maximize your learning and growth throughout your summer... and beyond. Internships with FirstEnergy are full-time, paid opportunities spanning 14 weeks. You must be actively enrolled in an accredited university or college.

About the IT Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Administrator

The

IT GIS Systems Administrator

is responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and supporting all of FirstEnergy's Engineering, Geographic Information and Vegetation Management Systems. This position is responsible for systems such as ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, CYME, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), SSP Lifecyle, SSP MIMS, and SSP Productivity. The GIS systems are foundational to support data analytics, design, engineering, outage restoration, vegetation management, and work execution for FirstEnergy Utility Operations.

IT GIS Systems Administrator

also learns the complex business processes of the systems they support. They have great communication skills allowing collaboration between IT and the business unit utilizing the application.

Examples of possible job duties and responsibilities of an IT Systems Analyst:Manage and administer Esri Partner solutions developed by GSI (Distribution Design Studio) and SSP (Lifecycle, MIMS, Productivity, & SPANS)Design, develop and manage geodatabases across multiple instances.Develop & support workbenches with the Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) to support data extract, transform, & load (ETL) functions.Design, configure and support integrations using JSON, REST APIs, Oracle stored procedures, Python, SQL scripts, etc... with internal and external entities.Take a continuous improvement approach toward automation maintenance, data modeling or administration processes.Work with business units to collect requirements and develop functional specifications.Work on cross-functional teams to accomplish overall IT projects and objectives.Create and execute unit test plans related to product enhancements, implementations, patches, or upgrades.Document processes/procedures and specifications for peers.Respond to 2nd/3rd level support requests that are related to GIS technologies.Escalate issues and defects to third party vendors.Respond to out-of-hours operational issues.Applicant Requirements:

Currently enrolled, full time, in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university/college focusing on

Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, Geology or other technology related disciplinesClass Standing -

Rising JuniorMaintain a minimum cumulative

GPA of 2.5Must have the ability to work without sponsorship (now or in the future)Preferred Skills/Experience

Basic understanding of, or experience with, software development and integration experience, including but not limited to, C#, C++, .NET, Python, REST API, or SQL.Basic understanding of, or experience with, reporting and dashboarding solutions, particularly Power BI

Experience troubleshooting personal devices, such as laptops or tabletsHigh Level understanding of Windows Server, Windows PC, and UNIX/Linux operating systems and system administration fundamentalsIdeal Candidate :
