As a participant in the Co-op/Intern Professional Development Program, you will be cultivating professional skills and performing professional level work. You won't just be sitting in meetings and shadowing all summer; you'll be actively contributing and doing the same work as other FirstEnergy employees on your team. You'll receive on-the-job training and challenging assignments. You will also be assigned a Supervisor, a Coach/Mentor and a dedicated IT Intern Program Coordinator to help you maximize your learning and growth throughout your summer... and beyond. Internships with FirstEnergy are full-time, paid opportunities spanning 14 weeks. You must be actively enrolled in an accredited university or college.
About the IT Network Engineering Business Analyst
As an
IT Network Engineering Business Analyst
on the OT (Operational Technology) Networks team, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience developing and leading projects that construct telecommunications equipment in FirstEnergy's Operating Companies across five states.
IT Network Engineering Business Analysts
develop detailed schedules for a portfolio of projects with various individual milestones and coordinate project activities with other PM's, contractors, subject matter experts, network architects, etc. You will learn underlying communications technologies including fiber (outside the plant), digital microwave, field area networks, SCADA/RTU communications, routing & switching and experience running projects establishing communications to remote field devices.
This position's base reporting location can be Akron, OH. The position can be worked primarily remotely with occasional (1-2 days/week) work on-site (if applicable).
Examples of possible job duties and responsibilities of an IT Network Engineering Business Analyst Intern:Project Support: Assist project managers in planning, executing, and closing SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) telecommunications projectsVendor Management: Track material delivery schedule, ensuring projects are adjusted due to delivery delays, lead time changes, and general material risks associated with IT/OT scope of workCommunication: Facilitate communication between IT teams as well as present to sponsors and stakeholders the status of the communication track of business initiatives (PA LTIIP, OGM, NJ IIP, FAN ARP)Problem Solving: Identify and resolve project issues and risksDocumentation: Maintain project documentation, which includes schedules, budgets, progress reports and meeting minutesLearning & Development: Participate in training programs and shadow experienced project management professionalsApplicant Requirements:
Currently enrolled, full time, in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university/college focusing on
Project Management, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or other Business-related program.
Pursuit of project management certification desired.Class Standing -
