The Core Networking team is looking for a Network Development Engineer to join our Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. As a Network Development Engineer, you will be responsible for building, deploying and scaling the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units, across multiple global datacenters.

AWS Core Networking is focused on building Data Centers and the network that allows Data Centers to function efficiently. We own the solutions that allow racks to be aggregated and Data Centers to be interconnected. Core Networking's goal is to balance efficiency, performance and reliability to allow customers access to their applications and data.

Your work will play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks.

Key job responsibilities

Network Development Engineers are responsible for operating scalable and resilient networks that can adapt to changing demands. Their duties encompass various aspects, including network operations, deployments, scaling, technology upgrades, ongoing engineering support, implementing best practices, optimizing performance, liaising with internal and external customers, and producing comprehensive technical documentation.

Deploy, and scale our network across multiple global data centers.Create and automate deployment processes that increase quality and velocity.Develop and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.Work closely with our software teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.Create and review documentation regarding new standard operating procedures and process improvement.Work with data sets related to DC and networking infrastructure, network utilization, traffic demands and forecasts.Develop metrics related to health, availability and cost of the network in AWS regions.Use effective written and verbal communication to troubleshoot complex network problems.Work in a fast paced, collaborative environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience in a hands-on network role with IP routing protocols and technologies, including technical on-call work involving customer-impacting events, mitigation, and root cause analysis.• Developing deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP network and/or networking systems experience• Automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming experience

• Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture and core technologies such as IP, TCP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, Server Load Balancers, Firewalls, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, LDAP, NFS, etc.• Experience with one or more of the following router, server load balancer, and firewall vendor platforms: Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Arista, Brocade, Extreme, Citrix, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.• A relevant degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience in a large scale network environment.
