Regularly applies discretion and critical thinking to achieve objectives and sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.The Administrative Operations Business Analyst position provides direct complex support to the Cancer Services leadership team on business functions. Cancer Services has over 100 cost centers, over 950 full-time employees, and multiple campus and satellite locations. Working in partnership with the Manager of Cancer Services Administrative Operations, this position defines and implements administrative-related best practices across Cancer Services. Responsible for consistently communicating, implementing, and auditing administrative policies across the Cancer Center. Maintains a broad level of understanding of cancer center operations and key software systems and serves as a resource to staff and management. Understands Supervisor and Manager administrative needs and partners with external departments to investigate and ensure alignment within Cancer Services.Supports the Manager of Administrative Operations in strategizing and managing administration to meet evolving organizational initiatives. With strong project management skills and the ability to succeed in an environment with shifting priorities and changing deadlines, this position manages special projects that contribute to the improvement of operations tied to staff and provider engagement, benchmarking, operational transformation, and finance. Excellent analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of computer systems, a solutions-oriented mindset, and adherence to customer service standards are essential in this job. High emotional intelligence and the ability to work with different personality styles is essential.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $123,100 (Annual Rate).Department DescriptionThe UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical, and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly over 950 FTE and 100 cost centers, and is at multiple campus and satellite locations, and dozens of grants and philanthropic funding sources. We are routinely voted a top 10 program by U.S. News and World Reports.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.Two or more years of related administrative operational experience preferably in a healthcare setting or educational background in administrative operations with an understanding of business administration concepts and demonstrated application of best practices.Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as HR administration, onboarding, new hire training, leave of absence management, IT systems setup, regulatory requirement tracking, risk management planning, communication messaging, accounting and payroll, and safety regulations and guidelines.Interpersonal communication skills include verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling skills.Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis problem-solving, and customer service.Skill in managing sensitive and confidential information.Attention to detail and accuracy.Preferred QualificationsThorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, specific computer application programs, processes, protocols, and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management; and knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.Experience benchmarking through submission of data, review of reporting, and translation into operational practice.About UCSFAt UCSF Health, our mission of innovative patient care, advanced technology and pioneering research is redefining what’s possible for the patients we serve – a promise we share with the professionals who make up our team.
