An application or resume/CV must be filed for each position which interests you.JOB SUMMARY:The Director of Maternal Child Health-Nursing is responsible for providing clinical direction and leadership for effective management of nursing practices in Maternal Child Health for Cook County Health (CCH). Acts as a liaison between physicians and staff to ensure continuity of services and care. Maintains open relationships with leadership and peers across CCH. Administers and coordinates patient care to ensure processes are in place to promote best quality patient care and safety. Collaborates with other health care staff to establish and maintain programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organization mission and health care.This position is exempt from Career Service under the CCH Personnel Rules.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Licensed Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain license within two (2) weeks of starting employmentMaster's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, or Business AdministrationFive (5) years progressive administrative/management experience in Maternal Child HealthThree (3) years of prior Director level experience

six (6) years of prior Manager level experienceCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) CertificationCurrent Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) CertificationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Registered Nurse Certified in Maternal Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN)Nurse Executive-Board Certified (NE-BC) credentialGeneral Administrative ResponsibilitiesCollective BargainingReview applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and consult with Labor Relations to generate management proposalsParticipate in collective bargaining negotiations, caucus discussions and working meetingsDisciplineDocument, recommend and effectuate discipline at all levelsWork closely with labor relations and/or labor counsel to effectuate and enforce applicable Collective Bargaining AgreementsInitiate, authorize and complete disciplinary action pursuant to CCH system rules, policies, procedures and provision of applicable collective bargaining agreementsSupervisionDirect and effectuate CCH management policies and practicesAccess and proficiently navigate CCH records system to obtain and review information necessary to execute provisions of applicable collective bargaining agreementsManagementContribute to the management of CCH staff and CCH systemic development and successDiscuss and develop CCH system policy and procedureConsistently use independent judgment to identify operational staffing issues and needs and perform the following functions as necessary; hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, direct or discipline employees pursuant to applicable Collective Bargaining AgreementsWork with Labor Relations to discern past practice when necessaryTypical DutiesProvides leadership and oversight by directing, administering, and coordinating patient care in the Maternal Child Health department supporting Maternal/Women's Health, Labor & Delivery, Perinatal Health, Infant Health, Pediatrics, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit patient care.Recommends, develops, and implements policies and procedures ensuring multidisciplinary involvement throughout the process to ensure effective department operation and administration.Establishes performance goals and objectives for the Maternal Child Health nursing division in accordance with the Department of Nursing policies and practices.Makes rounds to assess and evaluate patient care needs and to ensure care delivered meets standards of care and standards of practice criteria.Evaluates nursing intervention, patient response, effectiveness, complications, and communicates information to physicians and staff;
