The Position
A Postdoctoral fellow position is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate to join the Department of Neuroscience at Genentech in the Neuroimmunology team led by Dr. Irena Kadiu. The neuroimmunology team focuses on early research and drug discovery to deliver transformative immunomodulatory therapies for neurodegenerative disease. This project will focus on elucidating pathogenic drivers of disease by establishing mechanistic links between human disease molecular etiology insights (from genetics, single cell, spatial transcriptomics) and functional outcomes of pathway perturbation in cutting-edge iPSC-based complex models. The Opportunity:You will be able to expand your skill set by learning through close interactions with top experts in the fields of genetics, functional genomics, and computational science. You will expand your hands-on expertise in modeling human disease by utilizing iPSC-based complex models to address scientific questions with potential therapeutic implications. As a member of the Department of Neuroscience, you will learn how to work in a matrix environment together with the members of the neuroimmunology team and other functions to drive your project forward. You will be part of the Genentech postdoctoral training program that provides an outstanding professional growth environment and the opportunity to pursue novel/unexplored scientific hypotheses while gaining exposure to breakthrough therapeutic discoveries.Publish high-impact research papers in the field of Neuroscience.Who You Are:Ph.D. with a proven track record of excellence in Cellular/Molecular Biology or Immunology.Must have advanced at least one key research project as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in a leading peer-reviewed journal.Open minded, curious, and with an exceptional attention to detail and scientific rigor.Preferred:Hand-on experience with CRISPR-based genetic modification of iPSC-derived glial cells (microglia/astrocytes) and preferably primary adaptive immune cells (B and T cells).High content imaging experience is a significant plus.Postdoc ProgramElevate your research career to new heights with Genentech’s Postdoctoral Program!
