Position Overview:

The Chief of Staff (CoS) will be a key strategic partner to the ED and the executive staff, ensuring that organizational initiatives and projects are efficiently executed and aligned with the museum’s strategic goals. The CoS will manage the flow of information between senior staff and other departments, oversee critical projects, and facilitate communication and coordination across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

Collaborate with the ED and executive team to define and implement strategic initiatives.

Ensure timely and effective execution of key projects and programs.

Monitor progress against strategic goals and prepare reports for the executive team.

Operational Oversight:

Manage day-to-day operations of the executive office, including scheduling, correspondence, and logistics.

Facilitate meetings, track action items, and ensure follow-through on key decisions.

Oversee internal and external communications on behalf of the ED.

Project Management:

Lead and coordinate cross-functional projects and initiatives.

Identify potential challenges and develop strategies to address them.

Track project progress, budget, and resources.

Leadership and Team Coordination:

Act as a liaison between the executive team and other departments, ensuring alignment and efficient communication.

Support the development and execution of organizational policies and procedures.

Mentor and guide junior staff as needed.

Stakeholder Management:

Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, funders, donors, and external partners.

Prepare and present reports and briefings to various stakeholders.

Crisis Management:

Provide support in managing and resolving organizational issues or crises.

Develop contingency plans and ensure readiness for unexpected challenges.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in History, Art, Journalism, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a senior management or leadership role.

Proven experience in project management, strategic planning, and operations.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
