The Core R&D group within Medtronic’s Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health Operating Units is looking for the Sr. Manager of Product Security and Privacy to be part of a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the design and development of Implantable Medical Devices and Patient Care Instruments. In this role, you will leverage both your technical breadth and business acumen to accelerate the design and development of next generation medical devices such as Neurostimulator systems for Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, and Sacral Nerve Modulation.

This Sr. Manager role requires a demonstrated ability in people leadership and a proven track record of driving engineering excellence on projects to meet performance and quality objectives. Provides strategic direction and leadership to the engineering team, while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. The candidate will be motivated and will establish consistent engineering practices and process improvements across their functional organization. They will play a critical role in leading the security team to develop innovative solutions that drive the company's mission forward. The candidate will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive success on projects from concept generation through market release and support for fielded products.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.

May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.

Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.

Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.

Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.

Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.

Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.

Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.

Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Specific responsibilities include:

Drive the design and implementation of cybersecurity into our products and systems.

Lead and perform product cybersecurity-related activities ranging from security monitoring to incident response to vulnerability assessments and mitigation implementation.

Work directly with architecture and development teams, and IT to ensure all relevant operational security risks are identified and evaluated. Develop and recommend specific security controls for product/system wide security needs.

Develop and perform product-level threat and vulnerability detection activities.

Contribute to Medtronic’s understanding of current industry best practices and how they can be applied to the Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health Products.

Tools, Prototypes & development: contribute to the development of tools, processes, and policies to prevent, detect, and resolve classes of issues across the entire development lifecycle, including supply chain and manufacturing.

Lead and guide cybersecurity compliance activities, such as: ISO 27001 and other international compliance certifications.

Requires a Baccalaureate degree in a technically related field

Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have

CCSP, CISSP or similar certification, or sufficient demonstrated experience and/or formal education in cybersecurity and information assurance.

Demonstrated experience with security architecture, implementation, and monitoring of threats.

Demonstrated understanding of information security practices, risk management processes, cybersecurity principles, and incident response methodologies.

Direct and recent working experience with ISO 27001.

Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to ask critical questions without being the subject matter expert.

Front-room and back-room FDA audit experience.

Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department.

Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):160,000.00 - 240,000.00. The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
