Position Summary

Reporting into the Vice President of Business Development, this position has responsibility for establishing new biologics drug substances partnerships in the target territory. The position is remote. Ideally based in the Eastern region. Alternate locations will be considered. Success will be primarily measured by sales and revenue growth and requires a high level of technical and commercial sophistication at Scorpius BioManufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Overall responsibility to manage the business development activities for a given target territory.Responsible for building and continued increase in the opportunity pipeline.Responsible for working closely with the project managers and operations to generate proposals, win new clients, and ensure customer satisfaction with the delivered services – acting as the driving force behind these activities.Develop and execute on territory sales plan with the objective of achieving annual sales targets through the closing of new deals.Identify, open, lead and close business development deals with new and existing clients, promoting company visibility, growth, and profitability.Implement strategies aimed toward increasing revenue and market share in the target region.Proven ability to negotiate and navigate contracts (MSA, QTA, CDAs, etc.) and lead governance meetings, as required.Deliver ambitious sales targets in an independent way, involving successful partnerships within company functions (marketing, project management, operations, finance) when needed to close deals.Build robust meeting/call plans for individual territories in region with specific KPIs and metrics.Ability to create and collaborate across the team on necessary processes and tools to ensure sales organization success.Organize facilities and attend site visits with prospective clients, setting agendas, coordinating team participation and leading discussions. Follow diligent feedback and strategies to address any concerns.Travel requirement: 25-35%

Education & Experience

Bachelor of Science, Biological Sciences preferred.Minimum 10 years of Biologics CDMO Industry experience with a technical sales focus, or 5+ biologics drug product operations experience and 5+ or more years of technical sales.

Knowledge & Skills

Proven ability to manage within a matrix organization and collaborate cross-functionally.Broad knowledge of the Biologics industry with a focus on US Market trends, US Marketing and trade marketing practices, US Regulatory knowledge, and Competitive selling strategies.Must be comfortable engaging in both commercial and technical operations, discussing strategic as well as tactical approaches to growing customer and the overall business.B2B and outsourcing, service-oriented experience in a related industry.Familiarity with CRM and demonstrated proficiency in pipeline tracking.Proven leadership skills, ability to understand financial analytics, prioritize multiple tasks, and drive projects to completion.Fluent in English.

Physical Requirements & Working Environment

Flexibility is required for working hours. Some weekend work may be needed and earlier or later start/finish times may also be required.The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve a combination of office and laboratory environments and automated equipment.While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must have manual dexterity and manual ability to effectively use computer terminals.
