Primary Purpose:
Lead youth ministry (sixth grade through twelfth) in our mission to know Christ and make Christ known as we worship, grow and serve together.
Develop, coordinate, and oversee a comprehensive program of youth ministries that disciples students and volunteers in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, leads participants in discovering their spiritual gifts, and fosters healthier relationships in the personal lives of participants and their families.
Will be a strong team player, with effective communication skills, passionate about serving our families and Christ, and value a strong relationship with the pastor and entire leadership team.
Essential Duties:
Implement Christian Education programs using Safe Sanctuary principles and guidelines. Organize and maintain an up-to-date file of all essential paperwork for participants including contact information, medical releases, permission forms, etc.
Relationally connect with youth ministry participants on a regular basis.
Coordinate all youth ministry activities including, but not limited to Youth Group, Sunday School, curriculum research/development for programs, retreats, mission trip(s), co-coordinate annual Bible School with Children’s Ministry Director, and other seasonal activities.
Ensure programs, curriculum and resources are consistent with the teaching and doctrine of the United Methodist Church.
Manage and develop the youth ministries budget and make annual requests to the finance committee for budget consideration.
Recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers to teach and lead spiritual formation activities for youth.
Coordinate and maintain a youth ministries calendar in consultation with the Senior Pastor and Administrative Secretary.
Regularly communicate schedules, updates and other pertinent information with participants.
Attend weekly worship services and become involved in the life and mission of MRUMC.
Make the Senior Pastor aware of any pastoral care needs that should arise from youth ministry participants and/or their families.
Implement outreach strategies that engage families and youth in the community who are not involved with the church.
Coordinate with the Children’s Ministry Director.
Other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor.

Applicants should be friendly, enthusiastic, and flexible. Applicants must be dependable, trustworthy, organized, and have a strong work ethic.

Education/Experience:
Degree, experience and/or coursework in Christian Education or related field (such as related youth development field such as teaching, counseling, etc.)
Demonstrate a clear understanding of youth development.
Knowledge/Skills Base:
Proficient in office technologies and social media accounts that promote youth ministry.
First Aid/CPR Certification preferred but not required.
Basic understanding of structure, theology and worship of the United Methodist Church.
Other Requirements:
Participation in staff planning retreats
Quarterly & Annual review with the Senior Pastor
Communicate with assigned liaison from the Staff Parish Relations Committee
