The Director of the Legacy Scholars Program is responsible for the daily administration and strategic development of the Legacy Scholars program. Works with College leadership, donors, and nonprofit representatives to successfully direct and oversee the program from scholars to fellows.Required Qualifications
Master’s degree; or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of nonprofit professional experienceWillingness to be a strong ambassador for the Legacy Scholars Program and an energetic and passionate leaderStrong communication skills (interpersonal, written, and presentation)Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of departments and/or entitiesDemonstrated strong organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to think strategically and lead a programProven ability to collect, interpret, and apply dataReadiness to embrace working in a diverse and inclusive environmentDemonstrated proficiency in fiscal managementPrevious experience in effective administration of department or organization, including supervisingMust possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policyEssential Functions
Oversee and manage the application process for Legacy scholars and fellowsDevelop and implement a robust nonprofit educational component for each stage of the Legacy Scholars ProgramProvide academic, advising, and coaching support to Legacy scholars and fellowsCreate partnerships with the nonprofit community, participating school districts, and fundersCoordinate with other college departments such as Student Services, Instruction, C3, and STRIVE CoachesPlan for growth and development of the Legacy Scholars programOversee budget and all operations of the Legacy Scholars program, including supervision of the Associate DirectorResponsible for strategic planning in collaboration with all stakeholdersAssist in curriculum development and teach lab portion of EDUC 1100 class-specific to Legacy cohortsDesign and present a communication and outreach plan to educate the community on the goals and requirements of the Legacy Scholars ProgramCreate, administer, and collate results of an annual survey to program participants (maintaining longitudinal data)Develop an annual reporting structure and present to stakeholders on program outcomesCoordinate with Institutional Advancement and Financial Aid to award scholarship recipientsMeet with Legacy scholars and fellows throughout each semester to discuss academic, career, philanthropic, and program goals and expectationsOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the timeMust be able to sit or stand for long periods of timeThe person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campusThis position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of townRepetitive use of a keyboard at a workstationUse of manual dexterityThe person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate informationFrequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 poundsDuties indoors and some outdoorsOffice and classroom settingAbility to work extended hours, including some evenings and weekends, and attend Midland College or community eventsSecurity Sensitivity
