Primary Purpose:Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work or and career development,
OR
The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency CommitteeAND ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:(1) Have completed a minimum of nine (9) semester units of college course work predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantagesOR
(2) Have completed six (6) semester units or the equivalent of a college-level counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses in a community college EOPS program, or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages
AND
Two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages.
OR
Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.
Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity minded practices within the classroom.
Desirable Qualifications:One year of experience in community college EOPS/CARE/FYSI/Rising Scholars counseling.
Demonstrated experience conducting in reach, outreach, and recruitment of diverse student populations in an educational setting.
Demonstrated knowledge and competency of community college counseling with specific knowledge in areas such as transfer and articulation, probation, career and technical education, STEM, and other unique areas of counseling.
Demonstrated success in assisting students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, former/current foster youth, system impacted students, speakers of other languages, and students with disabilities.

This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
