Summary :

The Director of Provider Compensation provides strategic direction and operational leadership of the compensation function for the physicians and APC’s (“providers”) throughout ThedaCare. As an extension of the finance team, the Director of Provider Compensation will be responsible for driving the development of compensation models, policies, and overseeing the alignment of provider compensation arrangements and payment practices for the providers of ThedaCare’s Clinically Integrated Network (CIN). This position will partner with ThedaCare’s CIN leadership, operational leaders, provider leadership, recruiting team, legal department, and compliance to propose, implement and assess the impact of provider compensation models that are created to align with service line and health system goals.

Job Description:KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provides strategic planning, program development, and overall operational administration of the department.

Leads the design, implementation and policy development of compensation programs that are aligned with ThedaCare’s guiding principles and operational objectives.

Provides strategic direction for ThedaCare’s compensation programs. Includes oversight of programs to enhance controls, reduce risk, and maintain compliance.

Act as liaison to leadership, recruitment, operations, finance, human resources and payroll on provider compensation issues and administration concerns

Effectively directs team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.

Monitors and analyzes benchmark data, trend information, and economic projections to ensure the compensation strategy maintains a competitive market position and is responsive to the business needs while maintaining compliance.

Designs tools, guidelines, templates, and communication materials to effectively educate leaders, providers, and prospects on all aspects of compensation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field

Seven years of leadership experience to include leading work teams and/or projects

Seven years of progressive responsibility in finance and/or provider compensation

Proven experience operating successfully within ambiguity; a results-oriented professional who can make sense of chaos to continually deliver desired results

Strong analytical and business case development skills

Strong management skills with excellent verbal and written communication

Strong understanding of health care finance and reimbursement models

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance

Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Climate controlled office setting with daily movement throughout the facility

Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers

Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
