Position Focus:Senior Staff Scientist position available in the FIB-SEM Collaboration Core (F-SCC) of Yale School of Medicine. The candidate will manage the electron microscopy (EM) sample preparation lab within F-SCC, optimizing existing protocols and developing new methods for clinical specimens. Responsibilities include:
Executing EM sample preparation across a range of biological and human samples.
Optimizing existing EM sample preparation protocols.
Establishing transcardial perfusion operation on animals.
Developing new methods for clinical specimens.
Creating an automated EM sample preparation pipeline.
Performing FIB-SEM sample preparation.
Essential Duties:
Carrying out specialized scientific methods and procedures in the laboratory.
Resource planning and allocation.
Keeping abreast of new technologies and methodologies.
Developing and interpreting scientific results.
Establishing laboratory policies and procedures.
Independently investigating biotechnological problems.
Arranging for additional analyses as needed.
Organizing laboratory and equipment use.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:Master’s Degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or related discipline and five years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Required Skills:
Development of new EM sample preparation protocols.
Ability to interpret scientific papers and protocols.
Operating instruments and troubleshooting issues.
Project planning and resource optimization.
Maintaining laboratory facilities.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:Ph.D. in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related disciplines plus five years of relevant experience.
