The

Director of Quality Assurance

is a member of the Quality Leadership Team of Lyons Magnus headquartered in Fresno, California, and is the department head at this Walton, Kentucky location. The position requires a deep understanding of food safety, Quality, product commercialization, recordkeeping, and any associated testing of food products. The position reports to the Vice President of Quality Assurance with direct reports, including the Quality Assurance Manager and Sanitation Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

Oversee and direct all aspects of the Quality Assurance and Sanitation Departments.

Ensure proper staffing in all Quality areas and that staff is adequately trained in their area of expertise to provide appropriate execution to Food Safety and Quality expectations.

Serve as the primary liaison for all customer quality issues and resolution communication.

Drive continuous improvement and corrective actions in product quality incidents.

Assist in management of Food Safety (HACCP/HARPC) Program, all associated Pre-requisite Programs and respective Customer, Federal, State and Local laws and guidelines affecting Food Safety and Quality.

Manage spending and budget for location Quality Assurance and Sanitation Department.

The Director of Quality Assurance will back up the Food Safety Manager and Manager of Quality Assurance in their absence.

Sanitation and CIP expert relative to systems and SSOPs at Lyons Magnus.

Lead on-site Quality audits.

Main customer and corporate office technical contact.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of B.S. Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.

Professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Quality certification including PCQI, Better Process Control, preferred.

10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Direct experience in food and aseptic processing considered a plus.

Demonstrated team building.

Strong project management and interpersonal skills.

Required Skills:

Interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams, internally and externally.

Individual must have strong food processing skills and Quality Control background, experience in ingredient functionality, material selection, and formulation considered a plus.

Demonstrated organizational, planning and time management skills.

Problem-solving skills (pays attention to details and effort to understand causes instead of just the effects) and creativity for developing innovative solutions and applications.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong emphasis on technical presentations and reports.

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects under short timelines to produce commercially viable solutions.

Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
