Job Summary of the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

The Director, FP&A will report to the Chief Financial Officer and partner with the leadership team in leading Axogen’s Financial Planning and Analysis process - develop the company’s planning models, as well as lead ongoing analysis and optimization of resource allocation. The role will lead and develop our financial planning and analysis team. He/she will work closely with the Director, Corporate Controller, the accounting team, the Leadership Team, the sales team, the marketing team, the clinical team, and the product development teams on the development of the company’s operating model, annual budgeting process, forecast updates, and timely financial and operating reports and analysis. This position always works to provide actionable analysis and insight that support achievement of our vision and mission.

Requirements of the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

MBA and/or CPA preferred.

Minimum 10 years of financial planning experience with progressively increasing responsibilities in a manufacturing growth company.

Minimum 5 years of leadership experience.

Expert level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

Relevant medical device or biopharma experience a plus.

Knowledge of Great Plains and Planful preferred.

Demonstrated understanding of data warehousing and reporting tools and structures.

Advanced Financial / Business Modeling capability.

Experienced in Project Management and coordinating cross-functional teams.

Understanding of GAAP.

Strong business acumen and judgment as well as understanding of relevant business environment.

Ability to effectively influence and drive consensus with diverse stakeholders; demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities. Strong negotiation, interpersonal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities of the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

The specific duties of the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis include but are not limited to:

Lead and develop the company’s financial planning and analysis team, capabilities, systems, and processes.

Lead development of the company’s operating model, annual budgeting process, forecast updates, and the preparation of timely financial and operating reports, KPI’s and analysis.

Support the company’s long term strategic planning process and communication strategy with internal and external stakeholders.

Business partner with the various departments on optimization of resource allocation, and deviations versus budget and forecasts.

Present to the company’s senior executives on finance-related topics.

Support the design, implementation, and management of the consolidated reporting system that integrates financial data from diverse sources, ensuring a holistic view of the company’s financial health.

Conducts comprehensive analysis of consolidated financial results, identifying key trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.

Leads the preparation of detailed reports and presentations, which include strategic analysis, tailored specifically for senior management and the board of directors.

Develops sophisticated financial and operational models to simulate various strategic scenarios and assess potential impacts on the company's financial health and strategic goals.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure models incorporate diverse inputs and reflect comprehensive business intelligence.

Regularly review and adjust models to align with changing business conditions and strategic priorities.

Leads the development and ongoing refinement of financial models and business cases to accurately predict financial outcomes and capital expenditures under various business scenarios.

Ensures that all financial models are robust, user-friendly, and adaptable, providing critical insights and forecasts to support strategic decisions.

Performs in-depth benchmarking analysis across key financial and operational metrics to identify performance gaps and areas of strength relative to industry peers and market leaders.

Support gathering strategic insights and recommendations based on benchmarking data and market intelligence.

Maintain knowledge of GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.

Help conduct special financial analyses and support the development of custom reports to address specific questions from investors and analysts. This might involve deep dives into particular financial metrics, variance analysis, or trend analysis.

Implement and utilize advanced financial modeling and analytics tools to help support the enhancement and the accuracy of reports and ad-hoc analyses, helping to foster a deeper understanding of the company's financial dynamics among stakeholders.
